Why not a Alessi double shoulder rig with 2 1911's and a Milt Sparks 6 pack.....

Thus ya have 2 1911's and 6 extra mags.....

Please clarify:

If the average civilian SD scenario occurs at less than 7 yards, and an average of less than 2 rounds are fired, why would you need any more than one loaded mag?? This is of course if you aren't a civi in Baghdad or LA.

But of course I carry three guns and 2 mags extra each - just in case the "SHTF" while I'm away from the compound and my arsenal no.gif no.gif no.gif

Because sometimes the average civilian SD scenario isn't average. It would suck to be taking cover with a weapon malfunction that was caused by a bad magazine and the guy who should have run off when the shooting started didn't. Without that spare mag it's over.

OK, maybe....

But really, I'm guessing your screwed anyways in that situation, for sure. what's he gonna be doing while you drop the mag, run for cover, clear your weapon, lock and load, represent, aim and fire? Is he going to stand there and give you a free ten seconds? What would that be called - an SD Mulligan?

Well, whenever I practice shooting for SD purposes I shoot on the move. So I would like to think that if the situation came up i would be on the move to cover as I was shooting anyways. Of course you never know these things until they happen, but you increase your chances of reacting how you train. I also practice clearing failures, so I can clear a malfunction in half that time. Still a long time, but I plan on getting it faster.

I agree, chances are you are screwed. That's why we take care of our weapons and mags. I am of the mindset though that I would rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it, within reason. One or two spare mags are not unreasonable for me to carry in my opinion.

I'd guess I have to agree - hope for the best, be prepared for the worst.

I normally only carry 1 in the gun and 1 spare. I figure if 17 rounds of 45 wont do it I should not have been there to start with.

My sentiments exactly! wink.gif Depending on what I'm carrying, my CZ75B .40cal gives me 21 rounds when carrying one extra magazine, or my dept issue Sig P239 .357sig gives me 25 rounds with an extra magazine. Then if I can fight my way back to the vehicle I can get the M4 with 60 rounds of 5.56mm.
Wow, I notice that someone besides Lara Croft carries more than 5 spare magazines on their person while off duty really.gif Impressive!!!

hate to admit it but I don't usually carry any spares.

I really should....

but I already have:

Gun
belt
flashlight
wallet
jimi wallet
big-ass keyring
pocket change
2 thumb drives
knife

my pockets are full!!! a spare mag or speedloader seems to always get stuck in the bottom of my pocket under my keys and I can't carry a belt clip, its obvious what those are so I may as well be open carrying.

But then I got my Addax Gas piston AR. Sure I still have to keep a few small replacement parts, but I'll let you kick me in the balls for every malfunction I have with my Addax GPU, thats how reliable it is!

So far we are at, hold on, let me check..... ZERO!

Same here. My personal opinion is a CCW setup should be comfortable or it won't be implemented properly. To me, comfortable = light. That being said, I carry enough to be effective.

I usually have one spare on my belt, but since I am commonly in my issued vehicle, I have plenty of "extras" available. smile.gif

I usually don't carry a spare. 18 x 9mm in the 17 is plenty (I Hope)

I used to carry 2 spares but now only carry 1 mainly due to the comfort factor. 27 rounds of 180 grain 40 S&W Gold Dots should get the job done.

I went out yesterday, and dropped a spare magazine in my pocket. There might be hope for me yet.

I can't legally carry in WI, but if i did, I would have one mag in the gun and at least one spare maybe two. Hypothetically of course. whistling.gif

Actually the law states that it is legal to carry a firearm in Wisconsin just so it is not concealed. You can not go into or I think within 50 ft of any federal or state building with your firearm. But.... you can legally walk down the street old west style just so your gun is in plain sight. Although it does become illegal the second you consume any alcohol.
