I've only used my G20 once for an IDPA match several years ago, and I noticed no appreciable disadvantage compared to those shooting a 45ACP. My handloads at the time were 180gr FMJs at about 1100fps.

I tried, but my Glock 29 had been modified that wouldnt allow it to be used.

My next one will be my IDPA gun for sure.

I have yet to shoot a competition course. In anything. I've shot a few courses of 3-gun at Tiger Valley outside of Waco, TX and done an amateurs job of it.

Used my Witness 10mm, a Browning Light Auto-5, and my 20" AR. For our "limited rules" "just-for-fun" shooting, it worked perfectly. We had also set up a 140yrd infiltration/shoot house course that was a blast to shoot.

It was fun, but I just can't afford the ammo cost right now to get to a level where I could compete for prizes or money, assuming I even have the talent for it. Still, I've been tempted to check out IDPA or USPSA.

Try USPSA. I like it better.

Basically you need a gun, preferably a 9mm or 40, 45 will work, 4-5 mags, holster and mag pouch. We shoot between 4-5 courses each week depending on how many people we have show up. On average about 70-100 rounds a night.

Really not to bad if you think about it. Most people have the equipment at home already.

I've shot the last two matches with my 10mm DW CBOB in Feb, and my 10mm Wilson CQB in March. This month is a classifier match and I'll probably use the Wilson again.

I've only just started shooting matches again, so I'm still rusty - but still shootin' full power loads.

biggrin.gif I've been shooting USPSA since 95 using a Delta in 10m/m. Since then it now wears a schuemann bull barrel, full length tungston guide rod,McCormick hammer and sear,Hinnie sights and it shoots like the Hounds Of Hell. Just hope they don't do away with L-10. I've shot every thing from 220 gr lead to 135 Nosler HP's it loves'em all. Left the sport a fews years back due to work (Travel) all the time. But now I'm a home boy so I'm back in the game agin and love it just need to refine my speed agin. Hope to see you all out at the matches with those great 10's they do make people notice. Have a good day! bye1.gif

I've shot my G20 and 29 in IDPA matches a few times. Next time I shoot ESP class though, I'm taking the RZ.

I shoot my Delta with Trip 10rd mags for IPSC and I just qualified SS with my new 1006 in January in IDPA. As soon as the matches start outside I will switch to my 40cal and 45cal. I hate losing my brass.

Yesterdays match was a big one and picking up my brass was not going to happen. Luckly I am shooting a Glock 35 so 40 brass is very cheap.

I use my G20 in defensive pistol matches at a local range (very similar to IDPA but opens it up to drop rigs and some modified weapons, more fun than cut throat competition). I used Remington UMC. Very powerful stuff for range fodder. The recoil does slow me down noticably. But it definately attracts attention. I am a hit at the night matches, serious fireball action.

If you reload, I would suggest trying some Bluedot powder. More fireball that you could imagine!

Sounds like Bluedot combined with my Tri-port comp would be fun
