Howdy, Did a search on the 556 and it seems there has been no discussion, or I searched incorrectly. Anyone have any thoughts on this new rifle due out in Aug-Sept?

I think it is cool but it would be really cool if they produced a version with the original 551 type furniture.

I kind of like the way it looks. It does have a few things going for it.

The high price kind of wipes those things out for me though.

There is a group buy going on over at The Firing Line. Price isn't too bad, shipping is included.

A little pricey for my taste.

Those are pretty neat, I would like to shoot one though.

Give the 556 551 furniture, 551 folding stock, lose the rails and AR stock and I'm in.

It looks like a cool rifle, but it's way outside my budget. Maybe if I win Powerball...

I read the discussions about it on a few other boards, its nice but nothing I am going to run out to get. the gun I REALLY want is the RobArms XCR. smile.gif

The thing can change out the barrel and bolt in under 30 seconds to switch caliber from 5.56 to 7.62 x 39 and is built for AR and AK mags.

Ive seen some videos and reviews, I am very impressed! Apparently they were building it for the military and late in the dvelopment the military changed some of the reqs which would have made them need to rebuild the whole thing so they said screw it and kept going as it was.

Im gunna see what my chances of getting out of NY are like though, cause if I can get out, I want an SBR version.

The thing aint too cheap though. about $1200 then you need to get forward and rear sigths and the other barrel and bolt is also expensive at $3-400...

But then I got my Addax Gas piston AR. Sure I still have to keep a few small replacement parts, but I'll let you kick me in the balls for every malfunction I have with my Addax GPU, thats how reliable it is!

So far we are at, hold on, let me check..... ZERO!

I'd like one like a 551 or even the XCR, but not the 556. However, my POF is a good piston 5.56mm weapon.
