I have my doubts about a ruger-branded 1911. Look at their marketing over the last few years (especially the hype with the P345. They made it a point to slam the 1911 as an outdated design in most of their marketing campgain). That said - Ruger supposedly made/makes some of the alloy frames for Kimber and other gun makers. Ruger knows their stuff when it comes to building cast/MIM parts. I've never had a Ruger handgun break or malfunction (I've had 5 of their center-fire autos).

If Ruger DOES release a branded 1911, It'd definately be on my wants list (it couldn't be any worse than the used Daly I have, and it could very well be as reliable as any other ruger auto loader out there).

Would definately be better than the Taurus PT1911. And it'd be an American made firearm, not Brazillian, not Fillipino, nor Israeli.

I don't care if it's shaped like a penis and you gotta cradle the balls to grip it if it shoots realiably and Glocks do.

Exactly what i was thinking, ruger has been making 1911 frames for a long time, just not putting the ruger name on them. ruger also makes golf clubs, taylor made i believe.

I think that Ping is the brand produced by Ruger.

Though I guess I own more Rugers by brand than any other brand, because they had the offering in what I was looking for, I can't tell you on a 1911.

Their product offerings run from uniquely Ruger best of its type to "Me Too" and price structure from an extremely good bargain to its got my name on it so pay more for it.

It will depend on what the 1911 is like and what it sells for.

I really like their new AR but don't like the price so won't be buying one. Since there's so many 1911s out there right now and I already own a couple, theirs would have to really be something exceptional which is doubtful.

PS, I don't concern myself with dead peoples politics for having worked in corporate American for decades I know companies aren't people. They're an organization, their politics only reflected by in who's in charge at the time, and the CEO is hardly ever reflective of those who are invested in the company and/or work there. If people really feel differently then we should all quit our jobs because our boss is a jerk. Good luck with that. Saying I won't buy from this American company because a dead guy pissed me off years back so I'll buy from this foreign company doesn't make sense to me. I guess I'm just not gun board trendy.

I would not buy one. Not after Bill Ruger's sell out to the AWB. I don't care who runs things now.

Gotta boycott Colt, Smith&Wesson, Glock, and Kimber too for some of the appeasements they have made to the federal and states governments to allow their weapons to be sold for large law enforcement and military contracts while taking steps to limit or alter weapons available to civilians and non-LEOs.

The only thing Ruger makes now that I really want is the Red Hawk. I can't see them bringing anything to the table with the 1911 that others don't already do. Like AR's, it's a crowded market.

Every time I read one of your post's I hear Doc Holiday saying it in my head and all I can think about for awhile is how great it would be to be able to step into a hairy situation and say "I'm your huckleberry." animlol.gif

You talking about the suggested MSRP of 2,000? Most places are selling them for closer to the high side of the 1,400 dollar range.
