Has anyone bought or shot one of these yet?
I found a couple of interesting articles but have never seen one or heard of anyone buying one yet.
Pretty neat concept of .30 caliber power in a lighter version of a standard AR10.

From the ballistics table in the Remingtons marketing blurb there is no way it will be anything close to 308. They show muzzle velocity between 2154 and 2278 fps for a 125 grain 30 caliber bullet. The same bullet would be 3000 fps or more out of a 308. With the lower velocity and lower bullet weight I am imagining a shorter bullet with greater wind drift and significant energy loss over distance.

HSM and Hornady teamed with Olympic Arms to standardize a new cartridge based off the WSSM platform in 30 caliber. Only about 10 years in the works. Soon to follow is a 7mm version.

Ballistics-Energy and velocity exceed 30-06 even with heavy bullets.
Bullet data sheets:
http://www.olyarms.com/index.php?option=co...4&Itemid=30

It is called the 300 OSM (Pronounced Awesome)
110 grain at 3480ft/sec
115 grain at 3300ft/sec
150 grain at 3043ft/sec

It will be avilable through Olympic called the Game Stalker in camo.

It will also be seen on a few TV hunting type shows.

Makes the Remmy look like a very poor attempt.

Read about it here:

That 300 OSM is interesting. I wonder how much the ammo will be and how many will fit in a mag.

Sounds like a 7.62x39 wannabe. The OSM sounds good, but isn't the WSSM on a AR-10 size action?

The WSSM is on the AR-15 chassis, not the AR-10 chassis.

HSM's price on ammo should be on par with their 308 and 30-06 ammo. Their WSM ammo is under $30/box.
These guns were not designed for spray and prey like the smaller calibers.
If high velocity and accuracy are important this is a contender.

The WSSM uppers have been available almost 10 years.
It uses a large specifically designed carrier and bolt... propietary to Olympic Arms with only Dedicated Technologies (Dtech) licensed to make them as well.
You can see Mike at Dedeicated Technologies and his stuff here:
www.dtechsuperstore.com

No bolt breakage issues like the 7.62x39 or 6mm PPC from hogging out a standard bolt.

Magazine capacity is limited to 7 rounds, but with the accuracy and range of these guns having a lower capacity in a magazine is an easy trade.

The WSSM uppers have become common place among AR hunting crowd. There really is nothing that can compare.
The 6.5WSSM puts the Grendel to shame as well.

There are versions available from Dtech from .358" down to .224
He has been making the 30 cal version for a couple of years as a 300 WSSM or OSSM but now it is being standardized and manufactured by a commercial ammo manufacturer called the 30 OSM
