I need a better seater than the flat nosed seater that came with the die. The factory one pushes them on the edges of the bullet, not on the nose and gives inconsistent lengths.

The question is, on the RCBS website they have seaters for three different GD round but none listed for the XTP. What are you guys using? The 180gr GD wider at the nose than the XTP so that would allow the seater to push on the nose of the XTP. Any thoughts would help thanks.

i use the lee dies. I had some trouble with the xtps geting thier cavities closed up, and the 200 grainers got a little round. I sent in bullets and lee made two seating stems for me, for $14. they only deform slighly now, not enought to worry about. Truth is, the original problem probably would not have bothered in real use, i just wantted to make a perfect round.

I load mine with Dillon Dies and Dillon 550, works great. XTPs are great bullets, I use them in 40, 10mm, 44mag, and saboted in my 50 cal muzzleloader. The Dillon seater die has interchangeable seater plugs for different bullet types.

I load the 155 grain XTP's and have a problem with the plunger causing a carved ring on the bullet nose. I don't have an answer for you, sorry. I was contemplating sanding or rounding the inner edge of the plunger with some 600 grit sand paper to ease the hard edge. Buying the correct plunger does seam to be the wise choice.

Lee are good to folks to deal with in that regard. I wanted the separate Factory Crimp die for my 338 RUM and they made one up.
This was when their dies first came out for the new at the time 338RUM and they did not yet offer that die.

When seating, I too have had HP bullets (Silvertips come to mind) often close up and get smaller in cavity diameter, a bit too. It did not affect the accuracy or penetration performance in the limited tests I did. The ST's still penetrated 3 water jugs and stuck in the 4th.
