The other day, I took my M-1 Garand out to test the feeding as I was expecting to go shooting soon. Shooting trip didn't happen, but I discovered a problem with it. It dependably ejects the clip while it still has one round left.

Any ideas how to fix this?

If the clip ejects on the seventh shot taking the last cartridge with it; it is usually caused by a bent follower arm. Replace the part.

Alpo is right on the money with his answer.

From FM 23-5

"19. Malfunction

A malfunction is a failure of the weapon to operate satisfactorily. Some of the common malfunctions are discussed below.

(a.) The clip may jump out on the seventh round. This is usually caused by a bent follower arm or bullet guide and can be corrected by replacing them."
