I have shot 180 gr xtp's with my standard full-house load of 11 grains of blue dot or 9 grains of power pistol without any problem. Didn't chrono those rounds though so I'm not sure what they were clocking at. 180 hard cast over 11 grains of blue dot gives me on average 1275 out of my full size witness with 4.5 inch barrel so I would imagine it would be in the ball park of that.

Is there any reason why Speer Reloading Manual #14, Alliant Reloaders Guide and Alliant web site do not have a listing for Power Pistol and 180g bullets?
Since it is there product do they know something about it and that it is not a good combination.
I seen that many are using it ok but it still has me wondering if it is a bad idea.

Thanks for any ideas,
Dale

Can't answer the question as to why Speer or Alliant doesn't show power pistol loads for 180 gr but from my usage it works well. No pressure signs and equivalent velocities with about 2 grains less. Less muzzle flash compared to blue dot but I would suppose it's because of it's faster burn rate. Power pistol is my most versatile pistol powder. I use it for full power loads in my 40, 10mm, and 45acp with great results.
