I used to skin them and give the hides as gifts or keep them but I have not done so in a while. I have plenty around the house and have no need for any more. If I am hunting someones ranch, I will often times cut their tails off and pin them to the fence next to the ranchers mailbox to let them know I was there and doing my job. If not, I leave them where they fall.

I actually only hunt during calving season and fur season. The rest of the year, I leave them be.

The long barreled pistol is a Ruger MKII .22 with a Gemtech Vortex II suppressor screwed on.

Did you shoot that with a suppressor on? What state are you in? Very good pics.

those are awsume pics. beautiful country and dogs. i does suck not finding them. i blew the front left leg off a yote years ago with a 220 swift, it was a sunday morning. i dropped it cold ,so i thought. it fell on the other side of a little hump in the field and we just started the hunt. i left it till we where done with the hunt. when i went to get it all that was there was the upper portion of the left leg and lots of blood. we tracked it into a timber and realized it was just doing circles around us. this was a sunday, i ended up calling it back in on the following thursday and killed it. they are very tough critters.

Great pictures! Like you, I hate that your dog got wounded and lost. But that happens ttboe! I think we all learn from days like that and it is part of what makes us more careful hunters. With the exception of the guys that just don't care. Great hunting dude!
