I think S&W speculated on even larger LEO contracts for their 10xx series automatics, but dropped the entire production when the .40 S&W seemed the more "desireable" choice. I too, wish I'd have picked up a Smith when they were available. Perhaps, I'll get lucky and find one in my travels. I have read, from Shadow and others, that the factory will repair used guns that have been "buggered-up". But, I guess this depends on what needs fixing. That's why a used gun, would still be an attractive acquisition. However, most of the forum members who have gotten used guns, had no discernable issues. A good testament to Smith and Wesson. Now, if they would only bring back a couple of these autos.
