I just thought I would share a couple of pictures of my grandfather. He was the smartest man I knew, I wish he would have lived longer so I could have learned from him. He died when I was in the 3rd grade.

He is on the left.

On the left again

This is a post card he sent on to his mother and it reads
Dear Mother,
Here is an Atlanta boy in this picturewith me. There isn't so many GA boys here. Am feeling fine and gaining weight.
Love Steve

The last is a letter he got when he got the Bronze Star Medal. It is an interesting read. If it doesn't come out good I will type what was typed.

He also received The Purple Heart and some other ones I can not recall at the moment(I would have to ask my dad). After the war he worked on base and won numerous awards for using his talents to save money and do things better. As I said he died when I was in the 3rd grade, but he was always making stuff. He made a pea sheller(still have it and it works), butter bean sheller(that did not work the way he wanted so he got rid of it, dad said it worked just fine though), he made a a thing that would make the christmas tree lights blink to the rythm of the music, he could take dents out of cars by heating and shrinking the metal.
Missed very much here

I like to look through old photos. I really wish I would have been born in a different decade, it seems people who had less learned to improvise more. I used to wonder how he learned everything he knew how to do and it hit me one day, he grew up during the depression and had to make due with what they had. I have an application he filled out for a job and his highest level of education was 7th grade. People today including myself could learn a lot from people back then.
