hi, i'm new to this forum and wanted to share a recent purchase.

i bought the gi expert a few months back.

i put some vz tiger stripe G10 operator grips on:

i've put about 600 rounds through it so far with no problems aside from a ftf one round early on during the break in, and has not been repeated.

it shoot quite accurately, allowing you to easily make a ragged hole at 15 yards. the very smooth and light trigger pull aids in this too. it feels like maybe 4 to 4.5 lbs with no overtravel.

the slide to frame fit quality is instantly noticeable when you first pull back the slide. it's smooth as glass, and has no play whatsoever.

the polishing of the frame ramp and barrel throat are also quite nice, and the barrel is crowned at 11 degrees.

you certainly wouldn't expect these features on a $550 1911.

here's 50 rounds at 15 yards, two hand hold:

Hmmm, sounds like a good truck gun candidate.

not that truck guns are legal here. not that i give a fuzz what the law says, either

I can't wait to see this Para when I get back home. I'm sure Oak will bring all of his kids to the range when we go out thumb.gif

Still in pieces. sad.gif Need more $ for parts. You can take the other kids out to play. Les and Dan are good to go.

I got an assload of brass and lead. You should come by one day and we can load some ammo to take to the range. I brought a buttload of guns with me so I could shoot down here. Go figure, I'm in the only part of NC without a rifle range mad.gif

I want to shoot as soon as I get home thumbsup.gif

If I was looking for an entry level GI 1911 I would look anywhere but Para.

you would take an auto ordinance or taurus over para? CONFUS12.gif

I had a Taurus. The fit finish and function was better on that than on this Para.

you ever looked at a gi expert model? it's not made like any other para (like the one you had). i've never seen any taurus that even came close to it's fit.

No offense, but I'm not impressed. It looks rough around the edges.

No, I think a $500 1911 is what it is. Basic. Nothing wrong with basic, but to call it anything else would be disingenuous.
