I am a HUGE Sig fan. I own a total of 5 Sigs, and 4 of them work perfectly. The only one I have any issues with is the Sig Revolution - Carry (1911 model).

I am in the market for a new handgun, and I am torn between 2 different pistols. The price difference between the two is not an issue.

I am trying to decide between the Sig P250 and the Smith & Wesson M&P. Both would be in 9mm.

from what you have read/heard, which one has a better reputation of being reliable? I have seen tons of complaints about the P250, but very few complaints about the M&P on various forums.

A long trigger pull is not an issue for me, because I currently carry a Sig P229 DAK.

Has anyone had any positive or negative experiences with either handgun?

I think I just asked this question but about the .45 variants animlol.gif

Only complaints I had heard about the P250 was that you need to make sure a pin is full in place before re-seating it in the frame otherwaise you have some problems, it won't slide out once in, so its a user maintanence thing, and the only other thing was mag prices....

I am trying to decide right now between a P250, S&W M&P .45 or a full size P220...

I know glock10mmman had a P250 for a short time but traded it for some reason...

what bad things have you heard about the p250??

FWIW - another huge Sig fan in case you couldn't tell animlol.gif

I have :
P229 Equinox DA/SA with Bar Sto 9mm barrel
West German P226 DA/SA in 9mm
P239 DA/SA in 9mm
P220 Compact(not carry) DA/SA in .45

Reason I am considering the M&P or P250 is the DA only system for carry.

But then I got my Addax Gas piston AR. Sure I still have to keep a few small replacement parts, but I'll let you kick me in the balls for every malfunction I have with my Addax GPU, thats how reliable it is!

So far we are at, hold on, let me check..... ZERO!

Ok here goes.....my 1st post on this forum. Sig pistols are very reliable, accurate and ergonomic. That said, I'm not sure what the benefits of owning a modular pistol are. What you are really buying is a platform with the ability to build interchangeable parts around a trigger group. Those parts are pretty expensive but I guess a lot of people don't mind that.
I have three S & W, M & P pistols, a MP 9c, a full sized MP 40 caliber and a MP 9 Pro. All are very dependable, accurate and ergonomically perfect (for me) and if I want, I can buy a interchangable 357 Sig barrel for my MP 40. All it takes is a change out of the barrel. The triggers are very light on all three with the MP 9 Pro being best. The Pro is far and away my favorite range pistol and if you are looking for a great range pistol this is it. So accurate it makes me look good!

M&P.

Not that I fell the Sig is a slouch but there is a reason the M&P is selling like it is and many LE agencies are switching to it.

I have a Sig P250 Compact 9mm. I was also looking at the M&P, but decided on the Sig due to the way it fit my hand and how the sights lined up for me. That said... it has digested everything I've fed it, it seems to particularly like Cor-Bons and Speer Gold Dots. From 15 yards, the Cor-Bons leave one ragged hole and the Gold Dots just a bit larger. The trigger is extremely smooth and recoil very controllable. I am very happy with my decision to get the P250. It's everything I wanted, plus I have the option to change calibers if I want to.

Not sure why this thread was resurrected after 6 or 7 months, but I'll chime in. Based on my personal experience with an M&P 9mm. I would go with the Sig. I had previously owned a # of Glocks but I sold my Glock 23 to consoldate everything to 9mm. To me the Glocks were ugly and everybody had one or three. The M&P looked nice and felt great in my hand. I liked everything about it until I shot it. It was very inaccurate and blew empty shells straight back at me, down my shirt and on my face. I tried different ammo, mags and holding styles but nothing worked. I sent it back to S&W and they returned it to me 2 months later. The repair sheet said "Replaced ejector" and "Barrel modification." After the repair, the first 10 or so shells in the mag would eject correctly then they would start to fly back at me again, althought it was improved some. It was still just as inaccurate. There was something wrong with that gun so I just traded it back in for another Glock which I am pretty accurate and consistent on. Maybe I just had a lemon but I would avoid M&P's.
