Hello all.

I am new to the AR15 and have been shopping looking for my first purchase. Found your forumn a couple of days ago and like it more than a few of the others I have looked at. All I can say about the AR is wow! I first looked at the AK, but chose the AR for its modular design. Being a little bit of a gear head and like the options of doing the upgrades myself. Not knocking the AK just believe I would like the AR better.

I have looked at DMPS and a CMMG both priced locally in the same price range, but I have alos looked online at the Stag 2 which looks like a great choice. Still looking into building it my self, but I feel that I may not save much after paying shipping from numerous sources. What I need help with is not what to buy but what to look for in a AR that makes it a really good one. I all ready know about alot: staking, chrome lined barrel, difference between A1, A2, A3, M4 etc., but what do you look for that says the maker is going the extra mile? There are so many choices and options out there that is is confusing. However, after reading some of your replies to the post I do not see the same old my rifle is better than the other guys, Chev better than Ford, you know.

Thanks for your insight.

Welcome to the forum.

You made the right choice picking an AR. It's not stamped steel.....
