Lately our rule number 9 has been stretched a bit, and while it hasn't been a continuous problem, we've been able to judge it on a case by case basis. Our staff does an excellent job keeping tabs on it, but we think that some clarification is in order for our membership.

Making this as simple as possible, imagine you're working in a fairly PC environment, and your boss might walk in and look at what you're viewing online over your shoulder. If it would make him uncomfortable, or say something about what you're viewing, it's probably not appropriate for the Armory. We try to maintain a family friendly site, where all people should feel comfortable and welcome. To that end, don't post any pictures that might make someone's wife, girlfriend, mother, grandmother (or grandfather for that matter) uncomfortable.

I know it's probably not up for debate, but what about a section. (I mean PG EVERYWHERE on the site and "maxim" rules in the special section?(No Nips, no Lips?))

Just my thoughts. Probably won't work.

We've thought about that, but in the end, we're a gun site (and political). There are about a gazillion other sites that have pictures of women. I think this makes a lot of sense.

We wanted this to be the kind of place that if you walked away from the computer and your 6 year old daughter cliicked on something, it would still be family friendly.

What G said.

This is a gun forum, not a "gentleman's" club. On the Intraweb, you can find as many photos and videos as you feel like in countless other places. There is only one AR15Armory and we should all want anyone interested in the art of the EBR to be engaged and want to come back again (and again ...). We have a great site with a great membership here, and arguably one of the best gun forums on the net.

Let's continue and push this site forward to make everyone feel welcome.

What they said.

It's the net.. if you want skin, theres plenty of places to go but here.
The only problem I see with a "maxim"section is that sooner or later it will start getting outside that forum.
It has on every other site I've been on before.
Which ends up giving mods and staff double duty.

Guns, cars and bikes, Games, Politics, outdoor stuff. That's us.

On my gun club forum, we have 1 single topic for eye candy. It is called 'Gun Babes' and the rules for the thread are nothing that you wouldn't see on a public beach (ie...no exposed 'bits') and the photos must have guns in the picture! It's fun and keeps everyone happy but still remains SFW.

Not gonna happen here. Pics of women are just a click away. Hell you can look at anything you want in another tab or window. This site was designed as a firearms enthusiasts site, and that's how we want to keep it. I want this place to be something that I can leave open on my laptop and have my daughter walk in and not be embarressed at what is on the screen.

Good policy. My 11 year old daughter is very interested in what I do when I am online and she is also a shooting buddy. I hate to have to "peak" at certain topics and then quickly look over my shoulder to make sure no one is looking. I enjoy most of what is discussed on this forum.

Interestingly enough...even though I take my entire family with me on each outing to the Shooting range (Wife, 17 year old son, 13 year old son, and 8 year old daughter) my 8 year old little girl is also the only true enthusiast that would beg me to go if I tried to go by myself....and is therefore the closest thing I have to a "shooting buddy".

She is also the only one that will sit and watch football with me on Sundays.

Last, and far from least she loves to look over my shoulder when I'm on this site asking questions about everything.

I like this rule.

I wouldn't have a major problem if a post once in a while that was truly relevant but happened to have a picture of a scantily clad lady had something in the title with a warning so you knew what you were getting into before clicking it...but I think it opens itself up to abuse and the rule as it stands is the best idea.

I agree with every other reply here. This is a gun site, let's keep it that way. Aside from that, i have kids too, and don't wanna have to make sure they're not looking over my shoulder when i want to see a bikini.
by the way, what's "+1 and IBTL"? i was going through the rules and regulations, and read #8, and I still don't know what those are.

+1 is internet slang for agreeing with a poster. IBTL is internet slang for "in before the lock", when a thread is closed.

Something like 70% of the internet is porn, no need to bring it to the remaining 30% that we fall in.

I appreciate this rule. I surf the web in my family room, and I don't want my daughter thinking I'm creepy... Thank you.
