Mine came with 2 clips.  There is a gun show this weekend (23rd) and I am going to be in full shopping mode.  I want a few extra clips for the 10 and maybe I can find a deal on ammo.    I also may pick up my Ruger Super Redhawk .44 :D  I know its not a 10 but if your going to buy a .44 then this is the one.

My 1006 also came with the two mags. I just had to have a couple more. As to .44 Mags, I enjoy my Colt Anaconda very much. It is in the hard-to-find 4" flavor.

My father-in-law has a Super Redhawk and I enjoy shooting it when I visit.

The reason for the Super Redhawk is it comes with a 7.5 barrell which meats wisconsin hunting requirements for deer and it can handle heavy .44 mag loads. Plus its cheap. I am also looking to pick up a few more mags. 3 or so would be nice. Hope to find those at the gun show as well.

If you are going to get mags, go to Midway. They sell new S&W 10mm mags for $29.99 each. I bought a few on my birthday (they discount items on your birthday) a few weeks back and they cost $26.something.

Here's the link to the Midway page: (http://www.midwayusa.com/rewriteaproduct/375006)

scottd,

I lean towards the Smith & Wesson flavor myself.

As was stated above rolling your own is a great advantage for this caliber.

You will save big money (I make 185 gr lead round/flat nose with a heavy load of AA #7 for about 7 cents a round not counting brass). Start saving your spent brass.

You will make better ammunition I found that the best ammo can vary for each gun, I have three Smith auto 10's and a Smith 610 they do not all like the same ammo. You will have the opportunity to custom tweak the ammo to the gun.

Reloading is fun This is a hobby that will provide much satisfaction.

With all the money you save reloading you can by more guns. Heck after loading several thousands rounds, I often head straight to the gun store to spend my savings...My wife often does not grasp this basic economic rule.

Seriously, to begin reloading you should get at least two reloading manuals read them and then buy your equipment. I personally feel that you should get an RCBS rockchucker single stage press and perhaps later a Dillon 550 progressive.

Gotta like your choice of handguns, I have the 1066 as well as many other Smiths, and just a few from the darkside (non Smith&Wesson), one of the latter is a Ruger Super Redhawk, in 7-1/2 inch. This is a great heavy duty hunting gun. It is so ugly it is beautiful and it will double as a hammer, in short it is pretty much bullit proof. The down side to the Ruger SRH is the trigger action, a Wolff spring kit is easy to install and will make the trigger much better. The cost of 44 mag rounds is another reason to reload.

There are several on line forums that will be helpfull to the beginner reloader, if you have an interest just ask.

HTH,

Fred a.k.a. HappyHunter
