MMMMMMM.......strippers.......OK, have to stop reminiscing. I have 10 new ones here if you want them., picked up a few too many at the last show. If you want more, I can look for the contact info for the guy that comes to the shows here, he sells them 10/$5, about the best price I have found yet, can't imagine that shipping would be all that much from him. Let me know.

Sean.

Thanks for the info Sean. I'd *heard* that the converted guns were legal if the conversion were done before the AWB, but I can't remember exactly.

How would that be proven?

Interesting question. From what I remember from previous discussions during the AWB, a detachable magazine put the SKS over the top with too many evil "assault features", and a conversion was in essence, "creating" an assault weapon. This was long enough ago, that I can't remember the substance of the discussion, except that almost all participants said it was illegal to do the conversion. I was unsure if would be illegal to do so now. My gut instinct would be that it is not, but I'll want to do some research before I even think about doing it.

Sean, I'll drop you a PM, I might have you forward that guy's info... really.gif

Really, just like many of the other frugal anim_bs.gif regulations, I don't think that it really could be proven, or that anyone really cares, EVER been questioned about your compliance parts on a built AK or FAL or any other for that matter? I have actually been told wrong info by the powers that should know, they don't even know thier laws and regs. I was told by an III SOT that being LEO you do not have to comply with the 922r import regs mad.gif This is someone that does this for a living.

In the free states it is legal, Assualt weaponwise for you to convert to accept detachables as you have no law on that anymore, but, it is no longer in it's original configuration and has to be import (922r)compliant, as it would be now an "SKS assault weapon" and as such not importable, change the required parts and now it is a non-imported assault weapon, and not restricted anymore than an AR with evil feature's, the b**** with that is, try finding US parts enough that would cover you for an SKS...

Basically for anyone in a free state it comes down to being legal to do, but, costly and a royal PITA awith finding parts, though they are out there I am sure.

ETA...Pepper, right back at ya..
