I just took the carry handle off my Colt 6721 which has about 200 rounds thru her.
The thumb screws on the removable carry handle where tight enough that I needed a quarter in the screw slots to remove the handle.
I noticed that on the left side of the picatinny rail on the lower portion of the V of the rail at the front and back a little bit of wear to the rail in both the front and rear portions. The black is worn off and a slight indentation is present in these two areas.
This appears to come from the V clamp on the left side of the removable carry handle.
Is this a normal occurrence to be expected ?

The carry handle was not able to move during recoil as it was fairly tight.
Also I will be mounting a Strikefire on this AR15 and after seeing these marks (wear) I am concerned about getting the proper torque setting for the Strikefire mount cross bolt.
What do you guys think?

most people will just snug em down abit after finger tightening them, as long as you don't notice any loosening of the screws yer good, I've even seen people loctite quick releases though it defeats the purpose

Well I checked two new Colt 6920's today and when I removed the carry handle on both they had the same marks in the same spot.
Seems the Colt carry handles all have this same issue.

My Daly didn't have any marks under the carry handle when I removed it but marks from carry handles and other sights and optics are pretty much a common thing.

I believe someone makes a special felt pen for touching up spots like that. I used to remember where to find them but I've somehow lost that link.

Maybe someone else has a link for those touch up pens.

Thanks for the replies.

I have a superblack paint pen but the marks I am talking about are more than marks in the paint.
You can feel them slightly worn into the rail.
Anyway it seems this is a normal occurrence Colts with carry handles.
