Got a heads up about Lone Wolf now offering long slides for the G20. Went to the web site and saw both a G20L and a G20T offered. The "L" requires a 6" bbl while the "T" needs a 5.15" barrel. Since I just got a Storm Lake 5.3" barrel I didn't think an extra .15" would hurt anything so I ordered the slide, with their "Blind Marking" option for an extra $10. No offense to them but their wolf's head logo is just too hokey for my taste.

This should make a very interesting conversion for my 2nd Generation G20.

These long awaited slides are finally available? I thought they would just keep pushing it off like other companies have.

Got an e-mail from one of the people there and he said they had sold half of the long slides on hand in 1 day. If your're interested you might want to get an order in as I would bet they will be gone before the weekend is done.

It would be nice to see a long slide Glock 29, but weight of the slide may need to be lighten for proper function. This is why some have the open top behind the front sight.

Both the G20L slide and the G20T are shown with the opening you describe. I have no doubt it is there for the same reason Glock carved out the slides of the G34 & G35, to balance them for better function.

Just got an notice my slide was shipped (surprised me). I'll let you all now how it looks and goes together when it gets here. Hopefully early next week.

I talked to JR this afternoon and he said that they always planed to have both solid slides and with the 'Glock hole. In fact, they ordered some solid slides too but the machining company sent in ones with the hole but no sight cuts thinking that's what he wanted.

He's saying that the business is still crazy, getting in stock to sell a challenge, and that he's working everything as hard as he can so give him some slack if he doesn't have something in that you want. He'll work as hard as he can to get it in for you.

Starting to get concerned. LW sent an e-mail saying the G20T slide was shipped on Friday the 29th, Priority Insured. Yesterday was 7 days so I called them. Was told Priority sometimes take a while. What the... PO claims 2-3 days and Idaho to Arizona isn't all that far. I'll be checking the mail box a couple times each day for the next few. (expletive deleted)

All righty then! Slide came in today. Really looks good. Got the sights installed and set about putting the rest of it together. Ran into a problem getting the firing pin channel liner in. Only went so far and just stopped. Damn!

Guess I go to Glockmeister in the morning and beg for help. (LOL at myself)

Update and a plug for Glockmeister.

Got there shortly after they opened this AM and with some embarrassment explained my problem. Guy behind the counter said I wasn't the first one to have that problem with a LW slide. He was impressed by the G20T and said it sounded like a good buy, including the extra $10 for leaving off the logo (LOL). He took it to the back room for a couple minutes and came back with the mangled channel liner. I really butchered that poor thing (oops!). A few minutes later he came back and showed me a properly installed liner. To be sure it was OK he dis-assembled a 21 from the case and put all the parts from the 21 slide into my LW G20T to be sure everything would fit and work. Then he only charged me for the new channel liner.

Can't say enough about the excellent service I have always received from the folks at Glockmeister. I will continue to be a customer for years to come.

Oh, and I went home and put the G20T together. If I can get to the range over the weekend (it's usually crowded from matches) I'll test fire it. Looks great by the way. (smiley face goes here)

Dave

Well then it's gonna stay worthless. Don't have a digital camera and don't know how to post pictures if I did. The P/T G20 went to Robar on Monday to be made functional. For my sake I hope it comes out but since I can't take pictures I guess you all will never know.

See ya,

Got it back from Robar about Noon today. Spent about a half hour this afternoon putting in a 3.5# connector and a NY1 spring from Glockmeister. Hope to get to the range tomorrow morning before it hits 100 degrees.

I will likely change the sights before I'm done but these were on the bench when I was putting it together and the will do for break in.

Barrel is from Storm Lake, slide is from LWD and obviously the frame is from Glock.

Did the Glockmeister fellow happen to tell you what you did wrong with regard to installing the Channel Liner?

What it boiled down to was: they had a tool and I didn't. I tried to force it in with a variety of objects of approximately the right diameter. "approximately" being the operative word in that last sentence. (smile)
