Anybody tried the lead SWC bullet out of there Kimber 10mm yet? I know SWC bullets work perfect in my CDP 45, but im curious about in 10mm.

I want to purchase some for my Kimber as they are about 18 bucks for 500 bullets. I want to see if they will feed right out of the gun before I commit to so many.

Thanks in advance!

I cast my own SWC and fire them out of my Kimber 10mm. I've shot well over 2000 of them so far with few FTF. Most of my FTF occur when I leave the Shok Buff in the gun. Without a Shok Buf, the gun is extremely reliable with the lead bullets. I also think that the few FTFs that I have had are a result of my SWC loads being under powered for the current set up. I'm keeping my cast bullets down to 950 fps to avoid leading and to make the round more pleasant to shoot.

By casting my own bullets, I am able to keep the price of ammo down to an incredibly low amount.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention.....

The crimp is more critical on a lead bullet than on a jacketed bullet for proper feeding into a semi-auto. Or, more accurately, too much crimp is more likely to adversly affect a lead bullet. The over-crimped lead bullet will feed too deep into the chamber causing pressure spikes and feeding issues.

The best way to check your crimp is to remove the barrel from your gun and drop a loaded round into the chamber. You should hear a distinct "plunk." Then try to push the round in further. If it goes in further, you crimp is not correct. After pushing the round in, you should be able to tilt the barrel up and the round should fall out on its own weight.

I found all this out the hard way [but without tearing anything up :D ]

Hope this helps.

Thanks!!

I loaded up a bunch of these 155 grain RN bullets last year with 231 and didnt come out with a very good load. Almost seemed like I was shooting a flint lock.
