I purchased a Lasermax unit for my G29, and am noticing a significant decrease in accuracy when shot from the sights compared to the stock spring. What I found is that in their captured state, the stock recoil spring is a little over an eight of an inch longer than the Lasermax unit. With the Lasermax unit the barrel hood is not returning to the same position. It is susposed to be even with the top of the slide, which it is with the stock spring because the stock spring puts more preload on the barrel, which pushe the rear of the barrel up flush with the top of the slide. With the Lasermax unit the barrel hood is anywhere from even with the top of the slide to more than a sixteenth of an inch below it. This also explains why I was not getting center primer strikes with the Lasermax units.

Does anyone have a Lasermax unit for their G29, and are you experiencing the same thing? I would like to gather some data before I call Lasermax. I have a Lasermax unit on my G32, G33 and XD45ACP compact and on all three units they pushes the rear of the barrel hood all of the way until it is even with the top of the slide.

If you have any experience, I would appreciate hearing about it. I do not know if it is just my unit, or is it common with the G29/30 unit?

I have a Lasermax installed in my G29. I agree that the recoil spring is quite different than the OEM spring, but I can't say for sure that I've seen any problems with the slide/barrel alignment on return to battery. To be honest, I've never looked. However, I can attest to the fact that I can't hit the broadside of a barn with the laser sight. I always thought it was recoil anticipation that was pulling my sight alignment off and never considered the laser as the problem. I'll be interested to see what other folks on the forum have to say. I'd sure hate to retire that $200+ sight.

I sent mine back to Lasermax, when it came back it was a little longer and had stiffer springs. The barrel goes to full battery now everytime.
