Laser Legal?

Sorry if this has been touched on but I can't use the search button or anything yet, but anyhow....Is it legal to have a laser attached to my pistol and deer hunt with it, or is it illegal to have it in general? I live in Alabama

Check out your states hunting proclamation. It should state it there if it is illegal or not.

Generally no. Hunting with lasers is usually a no-no. The only exceptions that come to mind are Alaska, Arizona, and Pennsylvania if you are legally blind. But it is still best to consult your local fish and wildlife department to be sure.

They recently made it legal for people with impaired vision in Louisiana. I doubt its legal for a person with good eyes to do.

220-2-.02 Legal Arms, Ammunition, and Methods for Hunting

(1) GENERAL PROHIBITIONS:

(a) It shall be unlawful for any person to use any method or

have in their possession any weapon or ammunition

contrary to this regulation while hunting or attempting to

hunt game birds and animals or other species provided for

herein unless expressly provided for by duly enacted laws

of the State of Alabama.

(b) It shall be unlawful for any person to refuse to submit

firearms and ammunition or any device, instrument or

accessory used in hunting to Conservation Officers for

inspection.

© It shall be unlawful for any person to hunt with a bow or

gun that has a light source attached that is capable of

casting a beam of light (including a laser sight) forward of

said bow or gun or to possess such a light source adapted

for attachment to said bow or gun while hunting.

(d) It shall be unlawful to possess any equipment that uses

electronics to increase the ability to see in the dark (night

vision equipment) while hunting any species of wildlife,

both protected or unprotected species.

(e) It shall be unlawful to possess fully automatic firearms or

silenced firearms while hunting any species of wildlife

Any arrow with poisoned or chemically treated tip or explosive head is illegal for hunting.
Weapons capable of fully automatic fire are prohibited for hunting of all wildlife.
Firearms or archery equipment with any device utilizing an artificial light capable of locating wildlife. Night vision scopes are illegal. Shotguns capable of holding more than three shells when hunting migratory birds (doves, ducks, geese, and woodcock, etc.) are prohibited.
A short-barrel rifle or shotgun - Acording to TCA 39-17-1302, a person commits an offense who intentionally or knowingly possesses, manufactures, transports, repairs, or sells a rifle or shotgun with a short barrel. Therefore, it in not legal to possess or use rifles and shotguns with short barrels for hunting.

because if you look down about 5 lines we find this.

Any way hunting with a laser sight is legal in TN.
