Is there any way to id lower parts kits, or individual lower parts by manufacturer? I ask this because sometimes I see parts at gun shows, and the sellers all say Rock River or Bushmaster, but how do we (me) really know?

I assume, but don't know for sure, that there are some parts makers making cheaper parts-maybe cheaper metals or castings, not forgings, but how can you tell? Are parts marked in any way-in particular hammers and triggers?

Is the only way to be sure to buy from a reputable dealer? (ARFARM Sponsor, that is smile.gif )

Good question. I checked my 3 ar's, 1 has Bushmaster, 1 has DPMS and 1 has the LPK that came with the kit from Model 1 Sales. I couldn't tell a difference in them. Now how the triggers feel when being used is a big difference smile.gif .

yeah RRA triggers are NICE!
I recently picked up a DPMS LPK to replace a semi-worn parts on mine, oddly enough I was wondering the same thing, there does not seem to be any discerning marks to differentiate between them...

But then I got my Addax Gas piston AR. Sure I still have to keep a few small replacement parts, but I'll let you kick me in the balls for every malfunction I have with my Addax GPU, thats how reliable it is!

So far we are at, hold on, let me check..... ZERO!

There are no consistant markings on LPK offered from various manufacturers. You may find some markings repeating themselves on a certain brand, but then you'll find the same ones on other brands. Also whatever marking you find will change over time.

exceptions: Colt's disconnectors are often (not all the time) marked with a C.

TS, I am not sure why but the RRA triggers(just plain stock ones) have always felt smoother and better than anything else I have handled. My first AR was an RRA and when I got a pre-ban I remember realizing just how nice a trigger the RRA had.

No, im not talking Match triggers, Im not sure why, but plain and simple answer, RRA seems to make above average stock triggers.

The Bushmaster is in the middle as far as "smoothness" goes. DPMS is real smooth and the LPK (unk manf.) is real rough and would benefit greatly from the 15 min or whatever time trigger job. Basically some are grittier than others, heavy/rough pull then break. That is just my personal observation and your's may be different.

I'm sure it just has to do with the quality of production and materials used. There is a quality difference that is cosmetically noticeable between the Bushy/DPMS and the U.I.L.P.K.

Put a JP Enterprises 4lb or 4.5lb trigger spring kit in your lower. I had one installed at the gun show this last weekend for $17.00... Well worth the money... Better than any mil-spec trigger I've ever felt...

At a gun show, with some anonymous dealer, I don't think I would trust them to represent the LPK's in their assembled rifles/lowers accurately. Maybe it's just me, but I've been burned (on other purchases) too many times. I'd rather purchase something from a dealer I trust, than get burned on some gun show "deal".

I agree. Probably the only way you would know for sure of what you're getting.
