The light that put Surefire on the map even after 8 years since buying my first is STILL my favorite light.

First let me say being an avid outdoorsman with a constant need of lights, I am a light fanatic. I have hand flashlights, head lamps, lanterns, and spot lights of about every shape, type, construction, and different power arrangement you can imagine, but still none holds, excuse the pun, a candle to my 6p(s). Its a light that's more than a light, its a tool. Though small in size, its output is aggressive. Not only has the ruggedness been proven over time, you can feel it in the light from the first minute you pick one up. That rugged thick aircraft aluminum body, heavy weight for its size, and thick rubber push tail switch just screams rugged. The light output is very brighter than most lights but not so bright that it will blind you making it suitable for most tasks. Its beam is not too narrow nor too wide. Though its fairly short battery life may seem as a deterrant at first, one adapts to the instant on concept using the light only when needed as its applicable. For many of us that's a new concept in lights but its a concept one adapts to very quickly. Its easy to appreciate the wisdom of a brighter light but not too bright that you use periodically has advantages over a dimmer light that's constant on.
I can't begin to count the nights my lights have seen harsh uses from cold winter rainy rainy nights in the boonies to the harsh recoil of my firearms. It is the light when SHTF, I grab for. It is the light that resides by my bed with my .45. I guess you can say, I have and do trust my life to this light.
One may ask, what can be better than a 6p? I can tell you, a 6p LED. Just when I thought Surefire would never top the 6p, they did with the new 6p LED. The new LED model has the same rugged construction, however Surefire picked up the brightness while increasing the battery life with their new high output LED. As before the light output is not too bright to use for most tasks but because the LED puts out a less uncomfortable light color its even brighter than the original for common tasks.
There's that delicate balance in a light output between enough light to temporarily blind someone but still suitable for common tasks and Surefire has hit the nail on the head. Many other lights do as well but its when it comes to that rugged feel and proven durability the 6p out shines them all even Surefires own Cadillacs. Like a rockstar made famous by his first hit, struggle as he might, he will never overcome the popularity of his first number 1 or will it ever be forgotten, Surefire will continue to try while other companies immolate.
This light definitely rocks.
