I want a barrel like that, yet do not see it advertised at Oly's website.

I've read anything over a 10" barrel actually slows the average .45acp load.

And from the looks of it, that's just a barrel extension to meet legal requirements,

That barrel is exactly what I want for my .45 upper.

But then I got my Addax Gas piston AR. Sure I still have to keep a few small replacement parts, but I'll let you kick me in the balls for every malfunction I have with my Addax GPU, thats how reliable it is!

So far we are at, hold on, let me check..... ZERO!

Not there,

After PMing scotto, I think it was a limited time offer. When I get ready to buy, I'll call OLY arms and ask about it.

7.62x39 Short Form:

M1S Barrel reprofiled to lighter under the handguards and cut to 14.5" with a perm'd Sabre extended A2 FH, all done by ADCO, as was drilling the slickside 9mm upper receiver for a gas tube. The Yankee Hill Ultra Light stock holds the Enidine buffer I'll try out with this combo, and innards include an MGI bolt and a Geissele DMR trigger.

I don't know if the Matech is the ideal BUIS for this setup, but I had it, so I'll try it.

And I'll try out the C Products replacement 30 round magazine:

That lower really belongs to an A1 clone, but I thought I'd try it as well.

ETA - Final configuration:

I ditched the YHM stock for my perennial favorite, an A1 stock. It made its range debut Saturday where I zeroed irons quickly and then went to the Aimpoint. This gun's a shooter, at least at the short (50 yard) range. Had some trouble with the USA frankenmags not feeding and being very tight in the magwell, which I suspect is related to my having had the receivers anodized to early grey.

The C Products 10 rounders worked fine, though, and the gun gobbled up both Fiocchi brass and Wolf. I was inspired enough to order a half dozen more C Products 10 rounders when I got home.

I had only one C Products replacement 30 rounder, and it went through it's load without a hiccup.

Also added a 6920 side sling swivel, as it had none up front. That, I think, completes the mongrelization of what may well become my favorite AR.

I've seen variations of this assertion before, but never with any data cited. It would be interesting to know what the story really is.

Chrono reports I have seen indicate 230 gr. ball .45 ACP out of a 16" carbine barrel hits anywhere from 950-1150 fps, compared to +/-850 fps out of a 5" handgun barrel. The idea of cutting one of my .45 AR barrels has occured to me, if nothing else to facilitate handling. But it would be nice to know what other effects that might have.

It's just my luck that the AR45 project would get off the ground now. After I bought a MKII lower. th_realmad.gif

I would have bought the Cav-Aid lowers anyway, so I don't guess it matters.

I still want an AR45 lower. That would make an awesome AR style pistol.

Here's Fido, my PCR (Politically Correct Rifle). It's called Fido because it started as an Olympic Arms K9.

Here's a rundown:
Olympic 9mm barrel modified to 10.5" with a 6" can style permanent flash suppressor.
Olympic K9 bolt carrier group.
DMPS LowPro upper modified to take the K9 ejector (3 holes drilled).
Oly FIRSH rifle length free floating handguard.
DPMS lower with Duostock and lead filled carbine buffer.
Hahn Sten magazine adapter block.
YHM flip up backup iron sights.
ATN Aries 390 "Paladin" 4x night vision scope.
ATN 450 mW IR illuminator.
BSA laser sight.
ErgoGrip rail covers.

Total weight proximately 13.5 lbs.

I think it's about at scary to the anti-gunners as I can make it without a Form 1 filled out.

And a quick shot of my 243 WSSM.

Here's a rundown:
Oly K8 Magnum 243 WSSM upper with FIRSH 16.5" handguard (no longer made).
DPMS cast stainless lower with modified target grip, Choate hook stock, lead filled buffer, RRA 2 stage trigger.
ProMag bipod adapter.
Harris benchrest swivel bipod (not shown).
Simmons model 8810 6-18x 50mm obj scope.

Total weight approximately 12.5 lbs w/o bipod.
