Go with the Springfield mount. They work very well.

Congrats on the M1A. What flavor are you getting? I have the Socom 16 and love it.

Go with the springer mount, you will not be happy with anything else.

We gotta see picts too thumb.gif

Sadlak mounts seem to be least likely to walk loose. Or go for the whole Railed handguard and scope rail for the best mounting. They really weren't designed well for scope use, so really good scope mounts tend to be pretty pricey.

Don't get me wrong I love my M1A, but have pretty much decided it is best to kleave it as a very accurate iron sighted rifle. Springfield mounts have managed to disappoint me and I'm not convinced I want to drop anothe $250-$700 to get a reliable scope mounting system. For this reason, for me, precision .308 shooting with glass is done with a bolt gun, until I get my .308 AR built.

Congrats on the rifle, they are truely fantastic shooters, and wonderful battle rifles.

I tried a Springfield mount and it was sub-par. A.R.M.S. makes one as well but as SSGN said Sadlak Industries makes the best one available IMHO.

If I remember correctly, there may be some fitment issues with the newer M1A recievers and the Sadlak (Springfield specs).

For me, cheek-weld is the largest hurdle to overcome with scoping an M1A.

But then I got my Addax Gas piston AR. Sure I still have to keep a few small replacement parts, but I'll let you kick me in the balls for every malfunction I have with my Addax GPU, thats how reliable it is!

So far we are at, hold on, let me check..... ZERO!

Mounts for an M1A can cost big bucks. Before you decide on one you should pop over the the M14 forums and do some reading.

http://m14tfl.com/

Look under "Scopes, Rings and Mounts" section. You will probably find enough info to make your head spin.

Sadlak will do fitting for you if you send them dimensions on your Springfield Receiver. Part of the reason they are a pricey option for Springers. There are some dimensional variances in their recievers that can be accounted for.
