I recently bought a G29 and have been looking for holsters and have bought and played around with a few. I thought I'd share some of what I've learned to save others the time and I by no means think I am any kind of expert, cop, soldier, holster designer, tactical weapons expert, ect. Theses are simply observations from a civilian living in the woods who happens to carry a G29 on a daily basis and has never attended Gunsite, Thunder Ranch, Seal training, ect. Simply put-- just my opinion.
1. Fobus makes left and right hand holsters for the G29 in many configurations although they are apparently junk.
2. Leather G17, G19, ect holsters will usually fit the G29 but plastic ones will not.
3. Bianch Carrylock and Paddlelock holsters for 9mm Glocks fit the G29 well. The leather stretches to fit and the trigger guard is close enough for the retention lock to fit nicely.
4. Most Glaco IWB Glock 9mm leather fits the G29 nicely.
5. Galco IWB with the horsehide and J hook so that you can tuck your shirt in are the exception to the leather rule because the leather is so stiff.
7. A fobus will put light little wearmarks on the trigger guard where the passive retention grabs as the gun as it is holstered.
8. Of all the holsters metioned, the standard fobus paddle is the most comfortable, stable, and easy to draw (for me) although apparrently it's widely accepted that they're junk.
Hope this is helpful.
