After trying 3 phone calls and then an e-mail, all without success, I ordered some of the Hunting Shack 180g FMJs from Cabelas. It's back ordered but that's not news. I wanted to try their 180g FMJ because it is supposedly loaded 50 fps hotter than Georga Arms 180g FMJ. That comes a little closer to the performance of the load I will probably carry so I thought it was worth giving them a try.

Anyone here bought or shot any of the Hunting Shack 10mm ammo, particularly this 180g FMJ? Anyone found a way to get in touch with them directly instead of buying through Cabelas?

Dave

I can buy them locally. I wasn't super impressed; they were pretty dirty. But, they are noticeably less expensive than UMC. What is the velocity on them? I didn't see it on the box..

I have seen HS locally in Sportsman's Warehouse. I have not tried their 10mm. Don't know the velocity.

DaveT, what was the cost and are these plated or not?

So any of you guys with chronographs that want to chrono some loads... do it! smile.gif wink.gif
Post your results, like accuracy, reliability, etc. as well. thumb.gif

FWIW, I have some HS in 45 ACP. The FMJ bullets look plated, and are made with Speer brass. Have not shot them yet.

What I ordered from said FMJ but didn't specify if they might be plated. I've gotten mostly bad reports on this stuff so I cancelled the order and placed on with Georgia Arms instead.

Next time I head up north I may pick up a box and run them thru the paces just to get an impression.
It is a common brand around NM.

I actually still have few boxes.
Mine are FMJ, MIXED brass. The REM are nickel plated. Appears to be new brass although varying degrees of discoloration. Hmm..
Although this batch looks better than the last ones I fired -- crimp looks tighter.

According to this Google doc:
http://docs.google.com/gview?a=v&q=cac...hl=en&gl=us
velocity is 1150fps.

I don't have a chrony. :(

I've chronoed the georgia arms 180 stuff, out of both the omega and DE I'm getting 1089 +/- 15 fps, don't have any of the other brands, primarily reload.

Is that GA's 180g FMJ or their 180g GDHP? They claim about a 50 fps difference on their web site (call the GDHP a +P load). Kind of silly given it still isn't up to industry pressure of 37,500.
