Looking for the Armorys opinion on which is more accurate and why?

Thanks in advance for any help.

It depends on the bullet and distance.

I think of it as pushing through or flying though. A Ballistic Tip is about the best pushing through out there right now but a HPBT is the best flier. The BT will be more accurate close in for a given weight and a HPBT better farther out.

Toss up. As with everything it depends on distance, the gun, and the load. If you are talking everyday shooting, it is likely you would never be able to tell. Benchresters seem to all use HP, but long range is a fair mix. The A-Max's are real popular. Long range BR seems to be dominated by turned solids.

Well by and large there is no hard and fast rule on that. The HPBT match bullets do very well as the results show. The Hollow point on a match bullet (as in SMK) is part of the manufacturing process. It is not the same as a hollow point hunting bullet like the Winchester JHP's.

The Ballistic Tip bullet has a high BC and does very well. Many of them I shoot are flat based and do great for accuracy. The boat tail will pay dividends on out there at say past 300 yards.p to that point the flat base will do fine.

For pure accuracy I am going with a BTHPM bullet. For rat killing I'm going with the ballistic tips. I have not shot enough game with the WW JHP's to comment on but I can say that the Berger MEF (hollow point match bullets) shoot like a house on fire and are devastating on PD's. Probably a tribute to the QC of the makers of the bullets. But if you look many of Bergers true accuracy bullets are going to be very tiny hollow points.

I agree and thanks to all for filling in the blanks. I asked all the questions I can think of for right now about all the components for the .223 reload and now am putting together some nice tight loads. I just lost all my excuses for any bad shots except one, sun glare, I mean Rick error.

Can't wait to put some of these on target because I know how nice they will shoot. I reload for the old 30/30 and get great results to 150 with irons so I know these will be sweet.

One excuse could be that you wanted your buddy to take the shot on the rabbit you just missed and you wanted him to have a challenge!! rolleyes.gif
