I have been carving/making Yupik Masks, Drums, and "Ulu's" and various other things that were used in my culture back in the day, unfortunately much of the things we used to make out of necessity are reduced to making it to art. I say this only because only a handful of people try to keep this aspect of our culture alive.

I thought I would share some photos of my past creations. Hope you enjoy.

Thanks, It is the knife for everything...from filleting, skinning to butchering. Size of the "Ulu"(We call them kenaleq (kenn-a-lik)) is ussually what dictates the use. Smaller one's used to be carried by the women for all types of things including skin sewing...Men usually carried what is more familiar nowadays, some did carry the Ulu though.

If you ever watched someone that knew what they were doing with the Ulu... they can make short work out of Seal and fish.

Very cool! Nice work and a very Honorable thing you are doing.

This area of preserving cultural past including art work is something the Japanese excel at and I wish we did more like them and You.

Do you know if we may pick up eagle feathers for art? I would like to get a few to make arrows with a couple "bird tips" that I found in a cave back home.

I wouldn't, there are too many laws regarding this and it is just a hassle, you could get in trouble especially if they are Bald Eagle Feathers.
