That is what I assumed he was talking about, but he might have been talking about a Drop In Auto Sear? CONFUS12.gif

I think you guys purposefully confused "Top Drawer" with "high shelf!"

I assumed they were Top Drawer! Was interested in the structure of the well cut behind the selector/safety shaft. I find it curious that such makers as Stag and LMT make high shelf uppers. I understand that Colt is trying to be PC ... but why others? And yes, the question was related to the use of an auto sear.

Is not critical for me now, but if the 1986 restriction on new weapons into the pool is ever relaxed I'd very likely do a transfer and an auto sear makes more sense than an RR or a lightning link. So, for the moment is just idle curiosity. Will just have to be happy with an RR M16 bigsmile.gif

Thanks!

I compared mine to my Stag lower, and the BRO is a low shelf.

Great to hear they are low shelf lowers. All of my lowers but one are low shelf and I skip over high shelf lowers to buy low shelf ones. Now as for quality they are top shelf.

I'm alittle confused. I'm in the military and have been around Colt M-4's for a while now and have never heard the term "high shelf" or "low shelf". Can somebody clearify what these terms refer to and the pros/cons of both. I know I must sound like a rookie but the only dumb question is the one you didn't ask.

A low shelf allows the use of M16 parts or a DIAS (drop in auto sear).

The DIAS or M16 lower must be registered tough. You cant just make one and drop it in a low shelf lower.

Let me finish my rifle and we can storm capital hill...I think that would be the only way to get that changed. Or if we can clone Charlton Heston 485 time and elect him to every seat in congress and the house and of course a few more for the entire presidential cabinet and we'll be Good to Go.
