whats needed to feed 8-10 adults

9x13 baking dish
8 medium sized potatoes
2 lbs of ham ( I use the hickory smoked whole unsliced ham)
16 ounces shredded cheddar cheese (krat medium)
1 or 2 medium onions (depending on how much onions you want can leave out)
1/2 stick land o lakes butter

Wash and then cut the potatoes into 1/4 inch thick disks and place in sink full of water.
while they are soaking shred the cheese and cut the ham into bite sized pieces (not to small). Slice the onions into disks then cut in half. Take the 1/2 stick of butter and grease the botoom of the dish. Now place an layer of potatoes no more than 1/2 inch thick accross the bottom. Now sprinkle an layer of onions, ham and cheese. Repeat this processuntil dish is full but when topping off end in an layer of potatoes with nothing on top. Now take the remaining butter and spread accross the top of the dish. Now you are ready to bake in oven at 350 degress for 45 minutes. Then remove from oven and place a final layer of cheese on top then bake an additional 15 minutes taking care not to burn the cheese.

Total prep time about 20 minutes cook time an hour.
