I Love my Springfield Mil-Spec Very plan jane but will hit what you aim at and will eat any ammo you put in They also run 9mm/10mm fireing pin and block! Clark Customs recomends them for there .460 Rolland Conversion because of the fireing pin and the hardness of the steel they are made from! I choose the SA for that very reason because it is getting the .460 conversion ! Cant wait to have more power then a .357mag in a 1911

QUOTE (pleaforwar @ October 26th 2009 9:48 AM) Ok, I have read your review, and I see no comparison to any other models, nor do I see a definition of "outclassing", hence the reason I asked you directly what you meant by your previous comment. if you can't tell from my review-further explanation won't be of any help to you, my friend.

Thanks for the recommendations guys! Considering work's been pretty slow lately, it'll probably be a while before I can plunk down the cash. But I like to have a good idea of what I want before I get it!

Good luck with your choice.
If I can give anyone advice on buying their first 1911, it would be take the time to understand what it is really. The 1911 is as much a system if not more than the AR with many features and options available. Take the time to learn the more important features and then apply common sense to simple things like machine tolerances and finish, then you will make a wise decision that will make you happy.
Buying a 1911 is very much like buying a car. It being this brand neither makes it a race car or an economy car, while that brand may offer both. A Chevy Citation isn't a Honda Civic and a Honda Accord not a BMW.

Tj I treat all gun purchases as such! I've got a very basic understanding of 1911's, but that's about it. Nothing more research can't fix. But my main problem is budget. I really don't wanna spend more than $1k on one, preferably less. Price vs. quality/features is the demon that's always haunted me with firearms...

That's the first thing that jumped out at me when I saw your budget and why I haven't made a specific recommendation. With your budget, there's no reason to settle for an entry level anything but get a gun with the features and appearance you want. IMHO, Your toughest decision will be go higher end used or middle of the road new. There's cost trade offs like stainless finish vs non-stainless and still get the features etc. to achieve your budget goals. Yeah, its a tough decision but enviable one. Tj

I would take a Springer or Kimber over a Para any day. Maybe once Para gets their new us production facility squared away the quality will improve, but aside from you, the consensus of those who have them is stay away. Once I have replaced all the crap parts in my Para it will be heading down the road.

QUOTE but aside from you, the consensus of those who have them is stay away. except for the other poster here that said the gi expert is at the top of his list....
