New or used? Old slide profile ('square') or new ('rounded').

If it is a NIB, old profile, I would say it is a very good deal. Lightly used, still an OK deal.

Rounded profile, I may still risk it, but would be expecting the slide to crack at some point, requiring a visit to EAA for repair, and perhaps an opportunity to endure the EAA customer service nightmare.

It's brand new in box, not sure on the profile though, guessing newer since it's from a major dist. weird thing is it lists the safety as a firing pin block not a thumb safety.

That's not a bad deal. If you purchase it, you can always invest in a Witness "Stock" upper. This, when coupled with a 20-pound recoil spring should last longer than you think

Most of the new compact models I have seen are the rounded profile. Supposedly they tracked down the cracking issue to a batch of slides that didn't get the correct heat treatment, but that is only rumor, nothing official I have found.

As I say, if you are in the market, I would not hesitate at that price. But keep your eyes open for any cracking for the first 1000 rounds. Most that failed did so quickly.

And, as metnioned above, these guns are always under-sprung. A 20lb recoil spring would be recommended before any range outings.

I think that is a great deal. These guns are awesome - they are transformers in the fullest sense of the meaning.
Here is what I have: 2 full size frames(Wonder Finish)/ aka lowers now for the fun part one is set up for 10 mm or 45 acp or 9mm (40 S&W ordering barrel Monday and 2 mags)
Ordered a compact upper(9mm) so I can put in the full size barrel and attach the Gemtec Tundra silencer-shoots great-sounds like a pellet gun when wire lube added.
Now all the newer EAA's the barrels are the same OD and the guide rods are the same-compacts are smaller! So slide in the barrel and spring, use proper mag.
Now hoe cool is that?
