I blew a bunch of money on Glocks the other day (G17, 23 & 20 in one purchase).

I'm going to tune up the G20 with an aftermarket barrel and a trigger upgrade, but there are a ton of choices.

I have a G29 with a KKM barrel that has been pretty good to me, it shoots pretty much anything I run through it. I never looked into the Lone Wolf barrels until about 5 minutes ago, but they look to be as well made and I know I've read a lot of positive about them. I planned to get a KKM ported barrel for the G20, but the LWD appear to be as well made and they are about half the price, too. I don't know how well their porting works vs. the KKM porting device, either. Anyone have any comparisons or any reason why a person would spend more for the KKM barrel?

The trigger parts appear to have too many choices -- Glock, LWD, Ghost all sell 3.5# connectors and there are other parts as well to eliminate overtravel. Any recommendations?

Were I you, for the Glock Model 20, I would advise you to stick with Glock for the 3.5 lb. trigger connector. That, however, is because I prefer to stick with the manufacturer for upgrades. (This protects the warranty!) This is just my opinion.

Might want to check out Postquams set-up (KKM barrel w/ screw-on compensator).Had a recent post about it. Sounds like it is more effective than a standard ported barrel, plus you can remove it if desired . - R.J.

I have had several Lone Wolf barrels in various forms. All were superb in function and design. As far as connectors go, the smoothest 3.5# connector I have experienced is the Lone Wolf. I did a function test between the Glock and L.W. and found the L.W. to be much smoother.

I can't find that post. Can you provide a link?

At this point I've gotten a lot of good feedback about the Lone Wolf barrels, but I'd consider the extra money for the KKM barrel based on comp performance. The LW comps are milled into the barrel and the KKM comps look to be thread-on at the end of the barrel, which looks more cosmetically clean.

I think for my G23 and 17 I'll go with the Lone Wolf barrels, if I replace the 17's barrel at all.

Sorry mobocracy, I`m pretty sure my 12 year old niece could run a computer better than I , but I`ll do my best to point you in the right direction. The post I was referring to was posted under "General firearms discussion" w/ last post date of 10/2/`08. The title of post was "Glock 20 extended ported barrel". In the meantime, could someone please explain to this idiot(me) how to insert a topic link. Thanks. - R.J. blink.gif

Here's a pic of my G20 with a Lone Wolf barrel, Mako mount, Yankee Hill 1/2", 5" riser, and Tasco PDP3 scope.

Here's a pic of my G21 with KKM threaded, compensated barrel, Bobby Carver mount and PDP3 scope. The Carver mount doesn't need the riser for mounting the scope. This same barrel/comp setup is available from Lonewolf, but JR is now selling threaded LWD barrels, and will offer comps for those barrels within a week or two.

I've shot hot .40 Supers, .400 Cor-Bons, and .45 Supers through similarly-compensated barrels, and the comps do work to reduce slide speed and muzzle flip. Nice thing about the screw-on comps, as was mentioned, is that you can remove them easily for shooting non-compensated.

Oh, yeah, I prefer either LWD (my favorite), Scherer, or Ghost Ultimate over the Glock factory connector. The use of an aftermarket connector has no effect on the warranty.

I ended up buying the LWD connector and a stock length LWD barrel as a short-term solution/money saver (I also bought a LWD .40 barrel for my G23).

Does the KKM comp'd barrel come with a thread protector for shooting it without the comp?

No thread protector, but I'm sure they're available for a nominal cost.

Here's some good news: LWD now has threaded barrels and compensators for G20s. They also offer thread protectors inexpensively. I'll probably pick one up soon.

Charlie Vanek makes what is probably the best Glock trigger kit going....really impressive how they turn out. There's another guy (Sotello/Sotelo?) that also makes a good kit, but I haven't personally tried one....just heard about it from some fellow competitors. R,

All you need is a 3.5# connector and a Competition Trigger Spring for a lighter and crisper trigger. Much of the 'slack' will be eliminated and you'll love your new trigger. Best of all is that its both cheap (under $20) and so easy you can do it yourself.

3.5# Connector: I've tried Glock, Scherer, and Lone Wolf 3.5# connectors in my Glocks and Lone Wolf's is the best hands down because it gives you the best 'break' with less takeup and overtravel. You can get it from Glockparts for $13 HERE.

Comp Trigger Spring: The Comp Trigger Spring is a higher weight spring (6lbs vs 5lbs) and because the spring works with you pulling the trigger, not against you, the higher spring weight gives you a lighter and crisper pull. Glockparts has them for $5 LINK.

While you’re at it, give your Glock a 25˘ trigger job by following the instructions HERE. Its really quite simple to do and you’ll be pleased with the results.

For instructions on replacing your connector and trigger spring, as well as disassembling your Glock, check out Top Glock's Tech Page HERE. Just click on the link for the assembly you want to work with and they give instructions with photos to help you do it. Glocks are simple to work on so give it a try.

I got the LWD barrel. Works great...
