Anyone have any experience or opinion on these. The ones I am talking
about are the ones made by P.O.F (Patriot Ordnance Factory). They
are across town from me but I checked one out at Ameetec Arms as
they and Calvary Arms are only four miles from me.They are one
sweet AR.The owners at Ameetec say they a lot cleaner than the
regular gas system even at full auto.I see other forums that all say
good things about them so I just thought I'd ask here as I know
there is a lot of experience and wisdom here. Here are the links-

Occasionally is definately better info than they were initially given.

I get the idea of "continually" from my days as a grunt where down time was never really down time as we cleaned the rifles constantly.

As I recollect, the initial problems in Vietnam were also ammo related. It was a whole slew of issues resulting in the usual cluster-f**k.

I knew about HK's ridiculous sales policy on this, but I could never figure out why? It's not like they would be selling some top-secret, uber-killer, area-51 type technology to the civilian market, just a piston operated upper. You know, like the Kalashnikov has had since the 1940s. rolleyes.gif

I'll probably be getting one in the not too distant future. The only thing I don't like is the Predator rail system. It's just too bulky for me. Something like the RAS/DD 7.0/LaRue, etc. As for HK, Small Arms Review (November 2005) states "The German and ammunition industry managed to compensate for the weak domestic market (last year) only through increased efforts in the export sector." I did buy one of HK's AR mags and it is the sturdiest AR mag I've seen that didn't weigh a ton...

You would think they would ship out their first development that is what 5 years older than the one they are shipping out now. blink.gif

You certainly would.

We were positioned about two booths away from them at SHOT last year and the number of angry people that came through there was unreal. A friend of mine who has a "first development item" on order and has for like two years now blasted the hell out of them for a good 20 or 30 minutes. I thought they were going to call security.

Anyway...back on topic. animlol.gif

I thought I was on topic? blink.gif There shipping and delivering history is very important to the nature of their buisness. So when did you order this upper, when is the EXPECTED delivery date, how much was it and last but not least worthlesswithoutpics[1].gif !

You were on topic...I veered off ;)

I didn't order one...and wouldn't order one until I see a number of them DELIVERED to customers in a timely mannered and thoroughly tested.

Here's their blurb.

Oh...I noticed this last week and they said they expected to start shipping kits in two weeks....so....A week bigsmile.gif

Paul Leitner-Wise had some comments about potential weak points of the system and having spent some time with him, I don't take his words lightly.(Even if he does have a competing product).

I can't find the thread right now but it's in the AR15 section of that other ar15 site smile.gif...bark.com or something.

Trul;y looking at that design i bet you HAVE to use the handguards they supply which means no SIR's or other type rails. Also 400 dollars for just the conversion? Isn't an POF piston upper not much more than that? unsure.gif

I'm not big on POF so I haven't really looked at them. I imagine you could modify a SIR to fit...just relieve it a little bit if it's necessary. I put one on a LW piston upper and all I had to do was flatten out the roll pin in the front that holds the detent for the front toprail attachment pin.

From the current crop...If I was going to spend money on a piston gun I'd go with LW. Mostly because thats the one I have experience with and I like the dude who makes it.

No...all the info is posted on another site in the LW industry area and I didn't want to go posting links on this one out of respect to the owners and vendors here.

This link should take you right to the 5.56 piston gun info page though: http://leitner-wise.com/products/556cp.htm

It takes me there and I have no more access to their site than you do smile.gif
