Here is the deal. I got a very unexpected $500 settlement from USAA on a break in to my truck. They initially denied me, but after a complaint (I've been with them for 25 years) and a faxed copy of the police report, I got an apology and a check with no deductible. Not bad from an insurance company.Anyhow, Classic arms is having one heck of a sale, proving God does love Episcopalians every now and then, and I can get a Romanian Wasser for $450. Do I want the US made Century for $100 more or the Romanian MV with four mags, a sling and a case each? Opinions are very welcome as the clock is ticking on this price. Thoughts from thoe who own AKs are very welcome ? ARs, I know, AKs, I am clueless.

I'd love to get a AK47 with either a side or under folder so I can mount a aimpoint/light/rail combo of some kind on it & have a great trunk gun....

I'd jump on one if the price was right.....

Congrats on the settlement! thumb.gif

I have 2 WASR-10's from Century. They are very reliable (as are most all AK's) but it's hit or miss with the canted sights. It can easily be fixed if you're handy with a drill though.

I'm not familiar with the Romy MV version, though, so let some AK gurus chime in on that. I did get a VZ.58 which is a fantastic build. It's based on the AK platform but with some re-engineering and improvements. But I like both platforms equally.

Century has a bad rep because some of their workovers are crappy, so be warned. I think they've cleaned up their act as of late but I'm not certain. If you have a chance to look at the rifles personally then it's in your favor (as opposed to ordering online).

But like I said earlier, mine have been great and they are a blast to shoot. I and others here put them up there with my AR on the fun factor. Just remember that accuracy with them suffers greatly compared to the AR.

ETA: I think the MV version uses single stack mags whereas the Century's magwell has been modified to accept double stack. The Century will also have the Tapco trigger assembly, which is an upgrade and gets rid of the trigger slap.

struggled over the same thing and went commie. mine shoots great groups, so I'm glad I saved some coin. saved enough to get a good start on my second one (which needed some minor tweaks, but...). Stick with the original.

I'll second R.J. here. Saigas are some of the best AK's out there. The best thing about this deal is that its already converted and a basic conversion will cost almost just as much.
