hey guys, im new to the 10mm world and have a couple questions. ive done alot of reading in this forum, and seems most people advise to use a 22# spring especially using hotter loads. im planning on hand loading and i need advice on when to replace the stock glock barrel with a different one? just watch for pressure signs and smiles? or start out with a better barrel out of the gate? not any real clear answers on this. i cant wait to shoot my new glock!!! thanks for the help, 10mm newbie!

the heavier spring is to (and i quote) "keep the brass from flying into another area code". you DO NOT need to do anything to your m20. its a tank already. you CAN change the barrel and spring, but its not a must. if your not shooting lead nosed rounds, i'd say keep the stock barrel, change the spring to help brass life, and go have fun with it.

will brass fired from a stock glock barrel still chamber in an aftermarket barrel due to tighter tolerance?

mercurymark, welcome.gif to 10mm Talk

Yes & NO...It can if it is sized properly...that being said not all die sets will size down far enough to allow full sizing. Redding came out with a sizer which pushes the case totally thru the die to iron out any bulge ahead of the extractor cut of the 40S&W or 10mm brass. That being said careful inspection is highly recommended ti look for case head seperation.

I use RCBS carbide dies and even with full contact to the shell holder, I have found some 10mm & 40S&W(especially 40S&W cases they are the worst) which are tight in the aftermarket barrels, I have (Bar-Sto and Storm Lake for S&W and Glock pistols)...this can cause a round not to slide in to full battery. Case gauges are a GOD send for testing the actual performace of good sizing, although not actually needed as you can use the actual barrel to test with. I have found that rounds which didn't fit the case gauge still fit the actual barrel.

Best regards!

Is there something I missed but I am not familiar with a M20. I have a G20 sf and love it. I hope I will get my 40 conversion barrel shortly. I have done a bit of reloading with different powders and charges and have seen no signs of smiles on the brass. I recently put Talon grips on and will recommend them to all Glock shooters.

Telecster, technically speaking there is no model M20 Glock. It is referred to as the model Glock (G)20, so you didn't miss anything. People often get confused when slim-frame, and rough-texture models are also added to the mix.
