I hijacked another post about mag interchangeability with this same question and thought I would see better results by starting my own thread.

So, I bought a .40S&W EFK barrel for my 29SF. It will not go into battery and isn't close. Is there any difference between the G29 and G29SF barrels? I do not think there is, just wanted a few informed shooters to chime in. Thanks.

gralewaj, welcome.gif to 10mmTalk!

Looking at Storm Lake's web site they list the 29SF seperate from the 29 so there may well be a difference. unsure.gif

However KKM, Bar-Sto & Lone Wolf doesn't show any thing for the 29SF only the 29. CONFUS12.gif

It is still possible you got the wrong barrel, where is it different as you place it along side of the stock barrel? sad.gif

Enjoy the forum and lets us know what you find out! thumb.gif

From what I have read about the 29 and 29SF, the only difference is the circumference of the grip. There should be no difference in slide lengths, barrels, springs, trigger assemblies, etc. Just frame grip circumference.

I got out my micrometer to see if there was any difference in chamber lengths from my Glock 20 and 29SF. 1 got an overall length 1.332" on both the 20 and 29SF. For the EFK 6" barrel, chamber length was 1.331". To me, that says the 29SF should have the same chamber length as the standard 29, if Glock made the 29 to mimic the 20s overall specs. Now the EFK G29 barrel measures 1.338" - 1.339", I think thats too much material to be solved with a little "light polishing" as per the instructions, it will take at least a file to remove .006". It looks like there wasn't enough material removed from the front side of the chamber to allow it to slide up into the slide and lock into battery. I am also a little disappointed in the quality of the metalwork on the feed ramp of the EFK barrel. There are obvious tool marks and there is a rise in the center portion of the ramp and it appears scalloped when viewed from above! I am returning it to EFK, just waiting for a response now.

I have a few pics:

Frank @ EFK is taking care of it. Great customer service. Nice guy! I received my EFK 10mm extension barrel awhile ago and just got around to shooting it. This barrel replaced the 10-40 conversion barrel I ordered that didn't fit. Anyway, all I can say is wow! I am very impressed with EFKs customer service and high quality product.

And to set the record straight, and answer my own question from the first post: there is no difference in barrel or slide dimension between a Glock 29 and 29SF. Just the grip is different.
