Just checked their site, no posts since July 27th. I wish there was at least a word or two about the progress.

Yeah no kidding. Don't believe those internet rumors though! It's coming. (someday...)

Actually I'm kinda pissed at VLTOR. They could at least say something.

I completely believe and understand their statement regarding having current firearm orders to fill due to high demand, but what does it cost to add a quick note?

It's a numbers game, they make more on AR stuff. When that slows down, they can focus more on the Bren Ten.

And yes they should say something once in while.

I look at the Fortis like I look at the ACR/Masada. It's cool as hell, but I don't expect it to be released anytime soon.

In all reality, after this long, do YOU wanna be a beta tester for them? If it was a solid gun it would have been released by now. Just my opinion but I think it has some value to it.

But I don't think so. Dornaus and Dixon sold some Bren Ten's. Pre production guns are just like nothing at all. Wouldn't be surprised if they never sell a single "Bren Ten revival". sad.gif

Vltor Bren Ten magazines are essentially the same as Witness. This has been discussed a number times on a number of boards. What IS interesting is that Vltor tripped over it's own feet proclaiming to everybody that would listen that they had pre-ordered thousands of magazines. These were to be essentially 15 round Witness magazines with Vltor's Bren Ten style floor plates. However, is has been reported that a recent buyer's guide has listed Vltor's Bren Ten magazine capacity at 12 rounds. I have read here and on other boards that replacing the OEM Witness magazine spring with a Wolfe aftermarket will pretty much cure the feeding issues but will reduce the capacity to 12 rounds. A co-incidence? That said, Vltor's Bren Ten WILL, in all probability, be available at or shortly after the S.H.O.T. show in January.

Another interesting rumor is that Vltor has seen fit to add yet another (can you say third) safety, an internal hammer block to the gun and that a famous leather maker will have holsters for it in mid 2010. Of course, this information has been gotten through unofficial channels because the vehicle Vltor created for "official" news releases had the tires fall off some time back. It's now used mostly for damage control.

Anyway, it looks as though Vltor/Abrams Airborne will finally be able to make something happen 14+ months after the previously projected release date.

I have an EAA Witness and 6 mags. I guess I have been lucky. The gun is great and all the mags work perfectly. I added a stiffer spring and tuned the ejector. It was the gun that gave me the 10mm fever that I currently have. The old saying is even more true with 10mm's, "The first gun you buy, is pregnant".

You would think that but with all the gushing over Vltor by most folks, especially in their blog comments, the boys in Arizona must be feeling they can do what they want anytime they want. To me, not so much. I'm in a position where, when they finally arrive, I'll probably get one and if not, I can say "that's too bad". Personally, I feel that they'll be here 1st quarter of next year. I'm just really critical of the way Vltor handled this. A lot of the mistakes D&D made seem to have been repeated, unfortunately. Especially, the blog. They, for a variety of reasons, didn't set any land speed records doing this even though there was demand and I personally don't equate due diligence in product development with long delays. Vltor/Abrams Airborne started R&D on this on or about 1 February 2007 with the original projected release date the end of 2008. There's a good chance I'll be proven wrong but we'll see.

I cannot speak from 1st hand experience regarding the Witness magazines-especially the capacity reduction with the Wolfe springs. I don't own a Witness. However, there seem to be enough issues expressed here and on other boards that you have to wonder. The funny thing is that D&D pre-ordered thousands of the dual-caliber magazines from MEC-GAR only to find that they were junk in the 10mm guns. There were a boat load left in the factory when they shut down because they worked great in the .45's but that was it.

Anyway, 1st quarter of next year for Vltor's Bren Ten.

Bruce, I am inclined to agree with assessment of the current situation. The "new guns" will miraculously appear at the Shot Show to create a renewed sales hype. It's really becoming anti-climatic to me. They could've posted another lame excuse at the "official blog", for what it's worth. Personally, I have a very narrow window in which to buy this new item. There are plenty of other firearms related sundries that I need. Usually, a company such as Fortis would proffer the new "Bren Ten" to the gunzines for an in-depth review. This is usually the case for new firearms. They are reviewed about six months before the distributors actually have them. As of yet, there hasn't been a peep anywhere. I hope that's not an ominous sign.

I am done waiting. When I can afford another pistol, I will get a Glock 20 and forget about the Fortis/Bren Ten. It will be double what the Glock costs without the track record. Not going to be a beta tester for Vltor.

I'm done waiting too. I still plan on buying a few if they ever come out though. Vltor executives should go back to college and re-take business 101. Without happy customers, your product is doomed to fail, ...eventually.
The blog was a bad idea. A lot of D&D ghosts returned to haunt us (and still are, magazine questions arise...).
I would have rather seen it advertised in a gun magazine first and then seen it on the dealers shelves.
There is a dedicated Bren Ten fan base that Vltor has pissed off (including myself). Yet, if Vltor floods the market with them shortly after the SHOT show, the new Bren Ten may stay around for a few years. The quality better be there though. I'm sure the price will be.
