It's not even proposed. It was something floating around in California, but nothing there either.

There is a some news about this in Nov. 9th Gun Digest. Says a group called the Association of Firearm and Toolmark Examiners sent a letter to U.S. attorney general Holder calling for more study of the technology before any legislation is passed. Basically sounds like the people who are the real experts on the subject dont think the idea is a workable one, at least right now. Not that the liberal pols ever let facts stop them though. thumbdown.gif

k i was just wondering i didn't want to buy it all then hear that it is illegally made lol whistling.gif

also do yall have any suggestions on how i should start with regards to a lower. what i mean is should i buy a stipped one or preassembled. and which mfg do yall suggest getting or do they all have about the same ratings. also im just a tad confused about why some lowers say .223; or .223 & 5.56 or just 5.56 i thought the lowers were universal.

and yes i do have a "friend" with an ffl so i could see if i could get it through him smile.gif so thats a good thing

p.s. coolsteve the answer to that would be when h$!! freezes over is when it willl stop them hahahhahaha

A stripped lower is pretty easy to assemble, but if it's your first rifle then you might want to get an assembled lower or a complete rifle. Prices are pretty reasonable right now.

You are right- all AR15 lowers are the same, no matter if they say .223, or 5.56. If you buy a new assembled rifle, you want a 5.56, but that is the chamber info for the upper. The upper is part that the caliber concerns. The lower holds the trigger group.

My 6.8 rifle lower says 5.56, because that is what I had around. I couldn't see spending another $15 for the different marking.
