After waiting and waiting I finally ran across a decently priced 610. This one is a 610-2, but sure isn't like it came from S&W.

The previous owner had the 3" barrel removed and a 4" tube installed, some action work so the double action is right at 7 lbs, replaced the front sight, chamfered the chambers, and fluted and chamfered the front of the cylinder (like the new ones from S&W). There is also a ball/detent lockup on the yoke. The grips are round to square butt conversion grips by Ahrends.
It was built to be an IDPA gun, so it should be just fine as a carry gun.

Along with the gun I got the original 3" barrel and about 70 full moon clips.

Before the cleaning, which will happen tonight.

I am in a much happier place for now.

Bob, it looks like you landed a very nice 610. I have one (Lew Horton) in 3" guise, that's unfluted. I exchanged my grips for rubber Hogues. I can't really see any advantage of the 3" over the 4" in an N-frame Smith, both should serve the intended mission well. The wooden grips would probably be less snag-resistant in the practical sense. I haven't found anyone who makes a holster for the 610 snub; perhaps Bulman or Del Fatti. The Double Tap 180's, or Cor-Bon's would light-up any 'goblin' foolish enough to buck your safety zone! Once more, congratulations on a good find. I'm sure yours will shoot as good as she looks. Now you've got me wanting a 4" too. Let us know how it works out at the range. Peace out, Zephyr. wink_anim.gif

That is a very nice setup.
I have a 4" 610 that I plan on shooting in IDPA.
Are you going to shoot it in matches or just carry?

Right now I just plan to carry it. The guy I bought it from used it for IDPA. He loaded up 40S&W to 170 power factor and said it shot like a dream.

After a good cleaning and some spiffing.

Even if I have to say so myself, that is one fine looking gun. biggrin.gif

Here's a nice little holster I ordered for my 3" 610-2

J.W O'Rourke for $65 delivered.

J.W. is a great guy to deal with and I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

Carbine30, thanks for the holster info and pics! That's a good price for this leather. Is your holster fully lined? I would imagine, that the maker, would duplicate this rig for a southpaw. I didn't see the 610 listed under Smith & Wesson, must be custom ordered, right? A shoulder rig, for a 4" 610 would be nice too. Andrews Custom Leather makes some interesting items: I was impressed by their full-moon clip holder (can you believe six?). Here is they're link, but be warned, they are very pricey: http://www.andrewsleather.com/

No, it's unlined, just the rough out side of the leather. When I ordered I called and told them what I was looking for as far as a 3", full lug, N frame. I'd have liked to had it made without the flutes for the cylinder however that would probably not allow my 2.5" 25-14 to fit it as well.

Give O'Rourke a call. He's wonderful to deal with and considering the quality and the fact that shipping is included in the price you just about can't go wrong.

That is a really awesome setup!! All the work appears to have been done very well and to have both barrels!

Do you mind saying how much the whole setup ran?

Here it is with its new holster.

The holster was custom made by Mike Taurisano of http://www.taurisholsters.com/index.cfm . I took about 3 weeks to get the holster. It is very comfortable, pulls the gun high and tight so it will work for both open and concealed carry.

The gun cost 650 dollars and I got about 75 moon clips with it. The holster was 140 dollars, and worth every penny.
