Background:
B.A. Russian, Minor Military Studies (had to get something for my ROTC courses), 70-ish post-bacc credits with an overall ~3.4 GPA, 3.9 post-bacc
~ 6 1/2 years active duty AF--honorable discharge
Held a TS/CNWDI clearance for most of that active duty time--getting it took just about most of my first AD year
Nothing otherwise disqualifying--I've NEVER used any illegal drugs EVER, US citizen, never been arrested (1 speeding ticket 9 years ago)

I have applied to medical school for the class starting this fall but since my prospects don't look all that good (really don't know why...) how competitive do you think I'd be if I were to apply to a Federal LE agency (DEA/FBI/et. al.)? I was originally going to apply after doing my initial service commitment but stuck around a little longer and went back to college for a while after I got out.

there are plenty of agencies to look at and plenty of jobs to be had. try looking at usajobs.gov to see what is available....

That's not too much of a joke--apparently in the summer between when my buddies and I said "Yeah, let's get an apartment off-campus next year" and when Fall semester started, they all discovered the wonders of Mary Jane... Had I known that would happen I would have made different living arrangements but by the time I figured it out, I had already written the check for a security deposit and didn't want to lose that money.

I'm willing to bet if ya want to stick around ya can go SO or City PD. I was all but hired if I had put myself through the state LEO academy, but we did not want to move out to sublet county, back then it was about 5K for the POST cert, but I've got no idea what it now is.

That one little female Fire Fighter/EMT gone Paramedic you might know is not on her probie/FTO period with city PD. Years ago I had talked at length with the Marshall who ran convoys about getting on with em, but heck if I can remember that far back sad.gif

Border Patrol is hiring, but ya would go South and not North from what I was told while chatting with the BP guys many years ago when we were up north.

Sticking around really isn't an option--Mrs. JV is definitely due for orders this summer so who knows where she'll end up?

Does that FF/EMT/P have the initials B.A.?

Guess what--there are no more Marshals running convoys. When Mrs. JV told me that I was pretty stunned since Posse Commitatus becomes much more of an issue w/o one...

ohmy.gif ohmy.gif That's unreal, I've seen the Marshals do some stuff that would land the SF troops in jail if not at a minimum a ART15.............
