My Les Baer Prowler II was the finest handgun I have ever had the stupidity to sell.

Now all I can afford is Kimbers. But so far they have proven to be reliable (with the internal extractor) but it still chaps my ass that the main spring housing is plastic. But most rack grade 1911's have gone to them. Just had to swap it out with one for the Team USA (which is metal).

I really like the H&K, Glock, and SIG but since I cut my teeth on a 1911 they just dont feel right. And being comfortable and confident in your side arm is a large portion of being proficient with it.

It's funny you say this. I was thinking about this very topic just the other night.

My Kimber saw a little action this past Wednesday evening in my gun club's Pistol League. While I shot VERY well, I'm just not as confident, or comfortable, with that gun as I am my Glocks, or even my SIG. There's always that little bit of hesitation with that gun.

I haven't voted yet but I will. I want to get a couple thousand rounds through my Glock and see how it compares to my Springfield 1911. If I can put a few thousand rounds through the Glock and it doesn't have any FTF or FTE then it will be my new favorite. I hate to say it but I do prefer reliablity to pretty looks.

I want to change my vote to Lorcin. The most bust cap off up in ass gun there is.

Really, Beretta and Glock are still about tied for me.

I've fired everything from a Tokarev TT33 to uber-expensive 1911s, and I still find GLOCKs to be the best for me.

I've put at least 3, if not 4k through my G22, and not had one non-ammo.-related issue with it.
For the money, I find them to be the best out of the box, all-around, buy for the money, and consistent as clockwork.

Interestingly, if I buy another handgun, I'll likely buy a CZ52 (7.62x25), just because I like the ballistics of the weapon, and have nearly 300 rounds of it on hand.

Though, I've finally gotten over my .45ACP anti-bias... thumbsup.gif

My biggest problem with the .45 is it's cost. If .45 were as cheap as 9mm, I'd shoot a LOT more of it.

I was not thrilled with how large the 1911 frame is; nor by the cost of them; nor the cost of ammo.

I don't plan on running out and buying any sort of .45 ACP pistol any time soon, but now, after having fired a few, I'm not adverse to their handling or operation (though I've yet to take one down and reassemble it...).

I'm hoping my range-acquaintance will bring his XD in .45 and I get to try that out on the same day I rent the G21, for comparison purposes.

No denying the power of the cartridge, though. smile.gif

Reload man.

It costs me about $0.08/round to shoot .45 ACP. The cheapest I've ever bought 9mm for was aluminum CCI at Acadamy for about $0.07/round.

I hate reloading. It's too time consuming and I need to do it in bulk.

I work over full time hours, maintain two households, run errands with Grandpa BC and occasionally like to sleep.

Yup. It takes time.

But not really a whole lot of it. With a progressive press, you can knock off 100-200 rounds while the wife is getting ready to go out to breakfast. Taking your time and being careful it takes about 15 minutes to roll up 100 rounds.

I've got about 1500-2000 rounds of .45 on hand. All of that was done in 15-20 minute time slices.

I work silly hours also (about 55-60/week) but only maintain one home. And sleep? I'll do some of that when I retire. For now - 4 hours is plenty.

Rifleman308 on here has a sweet Dillon setup. I bet he could load 7-800 or more an hour if he tried. I would love to get one but the startup cost is steep!

Skip buying one quality pistol and you could probably set up a reloading bench.

I haven't done the analysis of when my Dillon stuff hit the break even point on what I've saved reloading vs. what it cost to set up to reload. I'll bet I'd be surprised at how quick it was though. Certainly less than two years, probably less than one. The more you shoot - the quicker it is.

That's a tough question. I'd have to go with Springfield as I prefer 1911's and they have the most diverse offerings. However, almost all of those companies make handguns I absolutely hate, and handguns I absolutely love (Springfield included).

I will openly admit I think Glock's are one of the most uncomfortable handguns for me to shoot. I don't like DAO/striker fired guns. I don't like full size 9mm's, just like I don't like compact 45's.
