Got to handle it today at the Houston Show. I was totally undewhelmed. Feels like a glorified toy, feels cheap. The cheapest one was priced at $3200. That's about $1600 more than I wanted to pay. That's how I feel about it. I could buy 2 MSAR STG556 with that money and still have money left for mags and ammo.

It has a polymer lower receiver with an M16 compatible pistol grip, flared magazine well, and raised area around magazine and bolt release buttons. The rifle uses a 'tappet' type of closed gas system much like the M1 Carbine while the bolt carrier otherwise resembles the Stoner 63 or Heckler & Koch G36."

Other than that and quick barrel change ability??

Also supposedly they are supposed to have less stoppages compared to an M4 but by 1.3%
BUT, the SCAR used in reliabilty testing has a differernt gas system that the one being bought and issued to the troops.

Sounds like more politicians or military procument payouts.
Since Colt/FN contract is about up.. they had to do something.

To those that have them... are they the greatest thing since sliced bread?

I was never interested in the SCAR. Though I did like the Masada, it's too bad Bushmaster had their way with it.

I had a similar experience with the AR after using and shooting my CETME. There's still too much plastic on my DPMS, but I'm keeping it as is until I DPMS gets the furniture I want back in stock.

I held a SCAR at a Pasadena gunshow, probably the same one as 12131, and I liked it. Not enough for what it costs though....

I really liked that first Masada version.

the SCAR has the military spec ops touch,but the operators I see have more HK416 then SCARS
I doubt about the special ops combat aussault rifle

Like 12321 I don't get the hype with it, or the FN PS2000. There is a few new rifles out I just don't get. The only reasonably new thing on the market that I thought was neat, was the Sig 556.

The ACR and Masada I get, I held one of those at the '08 NRA convention, and it was pretty slick. To bad my bones will be dust before it sees the light of day.

If the company's initials are S.A.W. it's the same gun. I just happened to like it. I didn't do a detailed inspection of it though. It felt much lighter and more balanced than the SIG 556 to me. FN is going to have to come out with some decently priced units to get any sort of volume sales. The ones that are currently available are supposed to be a special release, so they counted on the limited numbers to push sales.

I saw the positives of the FN PS2000 on Guns & Ammo TV but they don't add enough to even get me interested in one. If I get a bullpup, it will either be one of the MSAR AUG clones or the upcoming made in the USA AUGs. Those guns feel like an extension of your body, or do to me.


I may get an ACR/Masada, but I want the Gen I or version 1.5 that has the original Masada handguard.

Jeff Schramms is the boss. His price was actually $3500. Talon Arms (local guys) had it for a mere $3200.

The thing I get a laugh out of is watch the Star gate shows. How much is FN putting out to get their products on the tube?
The SCAR was getting a lot of hype in the Magazines. Some for the H&K.
Well Ronnie Barrett is still build 468 upper as fast as they can.
I guess I don't get the comma over the FN or the H&K. I think some people are like a ferret in a room with a disco ball. Kinda like drooling zoombies because of the new flashing toy.

The newest Stargate show is pimping the G36K.

There are more HKs in movies than the rest of other brands of guns combined. I don't think it's for advertising because HK doesn't want us to buy their guns and they won't fix or sell parts for the ones they let us have. It must be because Hollywood is anti-gun like HK.

For that kind of money I could bet a barrett and be very happy, maybe if I looked hard enough a .338 lupa, that's the kind of reach out and touch that I expect of a $3200 weapon.

personally i think all the hype has to do with the stock. I heard you could remove it and use it as a combat boot if you ever lose one
