From I-24 Exit 65 (Cadiz KY) Take US 68 (KY 80) west for 16 miles. There are plenty of signs pointing the way. For about 5 miles it will be 4 lane then narrows to 2 the rest of the way. You will come to an old bridge. It is narrow and high off the water to say the least. About a 2 on the pucker factor unless you have a duley then maybe a 3. If an 18 wheeler is coming over at the same time this will jump to about an 8 but it is rare as commercial traffic is not allowed but there is some construction going on in the park so it is possibile.

After the bridge you will be in LBL. Take the first right you come to after the bridge (road 153) there will be a sign for Energy Lake. After about 500 yards it will turn into packed gravel. You will pass one dirt road coming in from the right. The second one you come to is road 158. It comes in at a steep angle so the first thing you see is the stop sign for folks coming off of the road onto 153. It also is just about on the top of the first hill of any size. This is roughly half mile after the turn off of HWY 80.

On 158 follow it down and there is one fork, stay to the right. When you get close enough to see the lake you will see an area to the right of the road you can park at if you do not want to brave the shallow ruts just past it. If you go though the ruts you will be there. The ruts should not be a problem with a truck or SUV but if you are bringing a small car you may want to park above them. The walk from there is only about 50 yards or so.

You will need to get a back country camping permit from Golden Pond Visitor center $5 for 3 nights. They take credit cards if you need it. Go back to HWY 80 take a right and follow the signs. You will pass the range on your right on the way.

If you are going to get there early and want to get some serious firewood. Go back to 153 take a right and go about a mile up to road 157. There are several piles of cut timber down 157 from the storm clean up and we just have to cut it and haul it back.

To use the range everyone will need to sign a waiver. Well actually you dont have to sign it but your name does need to be on it. They said because we are shooting as a group we can just list all names in the group. The wavier will have to be taken to Golden pond visitors center each day. So if you are there first pick up a couple and we can prefill them out with everybodies names. Hours for the visitors center are 9-5 daily If you are going to arrive later than that you may want to give them a call at 270-924-2233 and ask them how they handle it.

If you are coming just for a day let me know and I will make sure your name gets on the list.

If you would like my cell number just in case shoot me a PM and I will shoot it back. There is now a cell tower in the area so reception was good at least for AT&T.

I hope to see you there.
