Coming from a Glock, I'm expecting a little learning curve though. I traded my Glock 19 plus some ammo, mags, and money for a Colt Delta Elite, 3 mags, and about 350 rds of ammo. Gun in at about 98%. I'm waiting anxiously to get a call from my FFL that it's arrived via UPS. And I think a good way to break it in, after a few testing mags at the range bigsmile.gif, will be using it as my pistol in a three gun match.

My other weapons I own right now are a Tanfolgio/EAA Witness in 10mm, a Daewoo DR-200, and a Mossberg 500. Next up on my list is a Savage LH bolt in .308.

Any hints on the DE and I'll be glad to take them.

Now to buy ammo. I'm thinking about buying some practice ammo from Freakshow. For carry I'll use either Silvertips or DT. I love both.

MedicOni. welcome.gif to 10mmTalk!

Congradulations with the DE, and good luck with the setup for the 3-Gun. Using it in the competition you may wish to keep it simple, milder loads and tune the pistol for the that application!

Best regards, enjoy the forum, range reports are manditory!

Enjoy your Delta Elite! I hope that you don't wind up modifying the pistol (putting more money into the piece) to gain the desired performance. So many Colt DE owners love their pistols so much, that they discover it akin to dating a supermodel! It may have a decent return, but the financial level of the maintenance winds up taxing you to death! Remember: It's a Colt, and you have paid quite a bit for the name.

I hope that it serves you well!

Good luck

I use a Colt Delta Elite as my carry pistol and have these suggestions:

Change the sights - One of my dots kept disappearing due to the recoil ( I loved that). I have a set of "Tru Dot" self-illuminating sights.
Change the guide rod and springs to suit your load and recoil management. (I'm looking into it - for nearly 10 years, lol)
Read the FBI study on bullet calibers for motivation. They were the ones that stated the case for 10mm adoption way back.

Also, I saw a brand new DE on sale for $800 in Bristol, PA. Is Colt really serious about manufacturing these fine weapons again? Or is this a test to see if they are going to sell in significant numbers.

Been using a DE since 1990.

I have two DE Colts and a Glock 20. I like them all but I like the DE's a lot better than the Glock. Really the only thing I like about the Glock is that it shoots 15 times. I guess I am just a 1911 person. Now I want a Fusion 10mm really bad. Oh, a Kimber and a Dan Wesson would be nice too!!! oh yea.gif oh yea.gif

We ALL want new Fusion pistols too! If I had all of the money that I really wanted, I would have a 7" slide/barrel custom "match accurate" Fusion pistol, with a 5" slide for other uses too! *sigh* I just don't see that happening in the near future.

Its been a while since I have posted. Love this channel. I have a blue delta elite and have fired it a couple of times. Bought a Fusion long slide. Have not fired it. Now bought a 1006 (used but in good shape) for 350 but only one mag. As strange as it may seem, I'm more comfortable with the 1006 than the 1911 platform. Not sure why...still trying to figure that one out. Maybe with time I won't feel that way. The Fusion I put away and just think about. Almost to pretty to shoot. AND I DO NOT COLLECT. Just a quirk in my personality I guess. Will probably find a good gunsmith to work on the 1006 just to make sure. When I get the money and get the boss's permission.

Mike
