I was wondering what happened to the 10mm 215gr. WFNGC round. I have a box of it at home and was going to get some more but it's not offered anymore on the DT website. Was there something wrong with it that it was discontinued, or was it just replaced with the 230gr? How do the ballistics of the 215gr. compare to the 200 or 230gr rounds? Is it ever going to be produced again? Not sure if I should step down to the 200gr. or step up to the 230gr. instead? Any big difference in accuracy between them? Which would be the best choice for woods protection from Black Bear & Mountain Lions and also used for hunting deer, boar and hopefully Elk? BTW, I shoot a Glock 20 (sometimes with a 6"LWD barrel) and also a Glock 29. Sorry for so many questions. Thanks.

Greg F.,

I know what you mean!! I have 29 rounds of DT's 215 gr. WFNGC left; I love this load and find it to be extremely accurate.

I emailed Mike McNett about it last year and his reply was that basically, it did not sell well enough to justify continuing it.

It is interesting to look at DT's listed ballistics:

200 gr. WFNGC--1300 fps AND/OR 200 gr. FMJ-FP--1275 fps

215 gr. WFNGC--1225 fps (no longer listed)

220 gr. Precision LFP--1125 fps (another load no longer listed, but the one I took a moose with)

230 gr. WFNGC--1120 fps

It's interesting because I know different powders, mixtures, etc. give different results, but:

The 200 gr. goes up in weight by 15 grs. and loses either 75 or 50 fps.

The 215 gr. goes up in weight by 5 grs. and loses 100 fps.

The 220 gr. goes up in weight by 10 grs. and loses only 5 fps.

Which tells me everything I need to know about Double Tap Ammunition. Namely, that McNett is a WIZARD and accomplishes what he does by MAGIC !!!

As I'm getting ready to place an order, I'll likely be picking up some of the 230 gr. WFNGC load. I plan to get in an extra amount of practice this year, and will be hunting with my 7" Javelina. The extra length of the barrel should make this a devastating load on deer, bear, and maybe even elk.

Sam
