How much do you want to spend? Price and options are about the only difference.

SR-25 mags which are used by DPMS are used in more manufacturers 308s than the AR-10 mags.

Just compare the two...print out the pages....imagine you will run into "Owner Preference" smile.gif
IMHO the Armalite would be my choice...if the extra $$$ were available.
Are you planning to hunt or match shoot with the .308?
Enjoy the BRD oh yea.gif

A few more mag sources. And a lot of people make upper. The Knight and the Rem use the same style lower reciever.

Sorry I've been away my Hard Drive on my PC crashed! Thanks for your replies... I have looked at them both... DPMS has some very nice products... reliable and accurate from what I read. On the other hand the Armalite has had much more time put into it with regards to R&D... seems to have beefier components and is chambered for both .308 win and 7.62 nato... vs. DPMS only rating theirs for 7.62 nato. Some argue that these chamberings are identical... and essentially are but when you check the SAAMI specs there is a difference. They are both high-quality products, but I believe the Armalite is a superior product and will likely be my first choice.

The DPMS SASS can use either 7.62x51mm or .308 Winchester ammunition without issue.

I have a SASS and it is simply a wonderful rifle, shoots smooth, reliable, absolutely sub MOA with 175 Match. Shoots really well with cheaper stuff too.

I went with DPMS because I already had a 7.62 AP4 and like parts commonality. You can also use Fulton Armory parts. Noveske has used Armalite but his parts are rare and expensive. The SWS rails will fit DPMS also. Larue has his own design now (OSR). KAC also has a wonderful but pricey unit, the URX rails will fit DPMS also.

I went with DPMS also due to the mags, SR25 mags are the standard, period.

I wouldn't mind micro slicking my CH and BCG though.
