Cowlitz River Summer Steelhead Fishing Trip

Our Crew hooked up with a buddy of mine that is a Guide last Monday for a Summer Steelhead Trip, and we had the time of our lives; the weather was beautiful and the fishing was hot … the ‘Crew’ consisted my Wife and her friend from work, and my Nephew and I.

the fishing crew; starting our day off early at 05:15

a big Bald Eagle

a few geese

my first fish of the day

a boated fish

notice the proper finger placement

we saw a lot of wildlife during the day and a few black-tail deer swimming across the river.

my wife's friend hooked into a nice steelhead

I don't care if it's shaped like a penis and you gotta cradle the balls to grip it if it shoots realiably and Glocks do.

yeah, it was a nice bunch of fish, but we all wanted to catch a few more as we were having to much fun! wink.gif and you are allowed to keep (6)each ... so we all wanted to catch at least one more.

we’re booked up for next year too! … as I’m taking my Mother and Father out for a trip. thumb.gif

Looks like there's a salmon mixed in with that bunch of steelies - or are my eyes playing tricks on me? 2nd pic w/ all the fish on the ground, bottom fish looks like a silver.

I'm quite sure there all Steelhead, just as I’m confident that Bob only plays by the ‘rules’ set in place and would not jeopardize his credentials over a single fish. smile.gif

No silver season on the Cowlitz? I s'pose it could be a fish that's been in fresh water a while, long enough to develop the hooked beak, but since it's on the upper portion of the mouth, along with the fins/spots compared to the other steelies - it sure looks like a salmon...

I'm jealous. Beautiful fish. While it can be somewhat easy to confuse a steelie and a silver (after a few beers at least smile.gif ), I'd say he's got all steelies in that pic. IMHO at least.
